Great. The election of the most powerful man on Earth may be decided by people who live in the middle ages.

Sigh.

Has anyone tried telling the fools that the climate is demon possessed by carbon demons?

Not at all surprising to me that Romney's supporters don't believe in climate change, but it is pathetic.

Of course they would believe in demonic possession, a number of their politicians are examples of those possessed! What else can explain their self-centered views and spewing of lies? Besides when the devil makes you do something, then you are not responsible, right? And heaven forbid they have to answer for their nasty ways, like when Romney wanted to get rid of FEMA because it's "immoral" to spend that money for disaster relief.... Of course now he has changed his tune to get votes, the little devil!

Also that they prefer sketchy information that cannot be proved but must be accepted by faith shows why they negate science, abhor fact checkers, and watch Fox News.

I laugh out loud when I see fat ass Rush Limbaugh (head devil who answers only to Grover Norquist, Beelzebub himself) sweating and spitting and guffawing with his huge cigar...God, what an UNAPPEALING, nasty man! YECH! Then there is always 2nd in command Buffoon Donald Trump - another one that makes me laugh out loud! What the hell is up with that hair? But the real demon is Global Climate Change. I live in the Midwest, smack dab in the middle of the USA, and am thinking of reviewing my insurance coverage and adding a few things, such as flood insurance.(normally unheard of for my location). Two years ago we had what was called a "Land Based Hurricane" roar thru our neighborhood, knocking down old, huge trees and splattering all the 3-level condos with leaves right up to the roof! I've never seen anything like it and I live in the land of tornadoes! Nope - not taking any chances anymore.

They were probably unduly influenced by the "Exorcist 2" at some point in their lives. Either that, or were lobotomized as children.

It is what happens to a group of people when they prefer the minds of small children when thinking on important topics....mythical demands are far more interesting and scarier to them than the reality of climate change...Of course the Republican Party also wants to cut more from education in all their budgets crazieness when on the topic of budget cuts...perhaps this is one reason for that...it would help to keep more generations from growing up being informed and from givin climate change serious attention...as doing so goes way against certain Corporate interest/profits.

You are so right about that Pam W. Here is a link I think you'll find interesting about one of those in particular who have relgion on their mind...far over his concerns of climate change.... should they 'win' an election :-). This person is also against science and anything to do with climate change other than if it provides corporates with more profits... but he sure has his religious views in his mirror :

"Watch Mitt Romney Explain How Jesus Will Reign for 1,000 Years When He Returns, in Jerusalem... and Missouri."

Thanks Carrie for another right on /interesting article ! We are all in this together and together we must help to save the earth ...and for certain start focusing on this very serious topic of climate change and how to get rid of those who fight all efforts of doing all that we can to at least slow it down...or make sure all are prepared and informed as to what it all does mean at this time to the world ! This U.S. has lead the way for the NaySayers/Climate Change Deniers for far too many decades on this issue I think.

This is very disturbing. I'm stunned that Republican voters are this lost. It's like they've gone back to the dark ages.

I'm with Jae A - I'm repeating Jae's post again: "Watch Mitt Romney Explain How Jesus Will Reign for 1,000 Years When He Returns, in Jerusalem... and Missouri." http://www.care2.com/news/member/721641624/3479392
Everyone needs to see this film of Romney and forward it to everyone you know ASAP! I DO think Romney believes he is the 2nd Christ! WOW! SCARY!

"Most Republicans Believe In Demon Possession, Less Than Half Believe In Climate Change". This should surprise no one since we know they believe in "trickle down" economics. Thanks Carrie, read and noted.

Hmmmm. Isn't this how the classical world turned into the dark ages centuries ago? Scientific thought was bullied out of existence and superstition floated to the top as c--p occasionally does.

Noted & thanks, Carrie. Jae & Chris above have mentioned a very important point about the Romney reign. Mormons and others really believe this, and it is truly scary. *I'm sorry I'm unable to send you both green stars as I've sent one in the past week.

As I said, in a comment, before Sandy got in the way, the Republicans, Tea Party folk, live in an country of their own, called Delusonia, in which one can believe in ANYTHING one desires, and in which there is a constitutional amendment doing away with fact checking!
The fellow who founded the Creationist Museum, said,, on TV, that "when the evidence for evolution became overwhelming," (HIS WORD) he knew he had to do something: bury his head deeper in the sand!!!, and create the museum.

"A new poll reveals the majority of registered Republican voters believe that demonic possession is a real phenomenon. However, while 88 percent of Obama supporters believe that there is "solid evidence that the earth is warming," only 42 percent of Romney."

Why does this not surprise me? These are people born with silver spoons in the mouths and NO thinking caps at all. And THEY think they should run the country? Please. They can't run anything for long without needing a bailout. From us. Again. These may be the most, or darn near anyway, delusional people on earth. Perhaps they'll begin to understand this a bit better when rising sea levels force them inland. I wonder who they'll blame that on?

Gene Jacobson - I have someone sending emails who is a Catholic. She passed on a chain letter explaining that global warming is not caused by greenhouse gases but is caused by sin: abortion, homosexuality and a long list of such.
People of sense must take on some responsibility for such a large number of deluded people in their country.
We need to be much nicer to the deluded ones and help them to face reality bit by bit, so that they don't disintegrate from shock.
