President Obama's decisive victory over Mitt Romney served as a clinic in 21st-century politics, reflecting expanded power for black and Hispanic voters, dominance among women, a larger share of young voters and even a rise in support among Asians.

Analysts, even Republican analysts, admit that Obama was able to offer a mandate and that the Republican Party is in big trouble. The look and live in an America that does not exist anymore. They tried to stop Americans from voting and it backfired. The American people wanted to speak up and that is why they stood in line for 7 hours or more to cast a vote!!! THAT is an American that had something to say to the Republicans and Congress with the 7 percent approval rating - we are MANDATING that you work with OUR president to get something done!

What happened to the Obama hate posters who have been so visable here? Did they actually figure out that they lost and they could do nothing to stop it - something we all knew? Except for Allan, of course. But, there will always be some who will NOT get an intellectul upgrade and all they take from this election is the fantasy they held throughout! Sad!

Those angry old white men that call the shots for the G.O.P. are now outnumbered. They're going to have to face the fact that America is changing or they'll simply get lost in the crowd!

It comes down to four simple words, "Adapt or Die Out".

Alice says, What happened to the Obama hate posters who have been so {obnoxiously!} visible here?

THEY ARE NOT BEING PAID ANYMORE! It was the Koch brothers, via the Rethuglican National Committee, the RNC, who were PAYING THEM ALL ALONG. That was the case all over the Internet.

Both the pro-Rmoney trolls, and the RNC that tried Voter shenanigans in 30 STATES; both ends of the spectrum, the trolls with no marketable skills and living in their parents' basements probably! -- and the multi-billionaires, have NO MORALS or ETHICS or VALUES, whatsoever; BOTH ends of the spectrum, will do literally ANYTHING for Money, the only Standard for everything that they know.

The trolls certainly didn't come here on Care2, and on other Liberal, Progressive sites, to be HUMILIATED in their arguments every time, for just their egos -- it HAD to be for the ca$$$h! Altho some of them rationalized it and tried to hide their SHAME, behind phoney bigoted "religious" arguments...

The Repukelican party will go the way of the Whigs and of the Ku Klux Klan as a political force. They will, like the KKK, continue existence as a bunch of sad old tired white men {and some of their brainwashed Stepford spouses, unfortunately}. Making trouble as much as they can.
Unfortunately, as another political writer pointed out, I think on Mother Jones or another Liberal site -- the Rich guys holding most of the Nation's {and the Planet's!} wealth and resources, will now go after and try to bribe and influence the LIBERAL politicians, as they are the only ones WORTH BUYING now!

We definitely need A THIRD PARTY, one on the LEFT, one that proudly embraces the WORD, "Socialism" and combines it with "Green".
"Socialism" merely means FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD; our FREE PUBLIC LIBRARIES are "Socialism", our FREE PUBLIC EDUCATION is "Socialism", our INFRASTRUCTURE, our ROADS and BRIDGES and INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM, are "Socialism" in action. So are our POLICE, our FIREFIGHTERS, our POSTAL SYSTEM -- and MEDICAID and MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY; ALL are "Socialism" in action! We just avoid the NAME!

Our Medicine OUGHT to be Socialistic, like that of EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIAL NATION is. Obamacare doesn't really go far enough -- SINGLE PAYER would be "Socialism" similar to what Canada and all of Europe has.
A MIXED Economy is best, like Scandinavian countries have.
Socialism and Democracy are ESSENTIAL TO EACH OTHER.
[Socialism is of course NOT "communism"! and, unfortunately from my point of view, Obama is NOT a "Socialist"; in Europe he would be called a Centrist leaning to the Right!]
So, we need the DEMS to be the NEW RIGHT {maybe adding on those Republicans who aren't bat-shit crazy and have a shred of Honor left};
and we need a NEW PARTY TO CHALLENGE THE DEMS FROM THE LEFT.
During the '30's, the Socialist Party of Norman Thomas, challenged the Democrats -- who, thru Franklin Roosevelt, ended up enacting much of the Socialist Party Platform! {Like Social Security, etc.}
GREEN SOCIALISTS.... think about it!

MOST AMERICANS APPROVE OF SOCIALISM. {Again, they're just not used to calling it that! Because of successful Propaganda by the wealthy!} That is to say, MOST AMERICANS APPROVE OF PUBLIC PROJECTS FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD.
So, a Leftist party that got over the NAME barrier, that didn't try to run away from it, could do AWESOMELY in this country. Imagine -- an Election between Obama {or somebody like that}, and somebody even MORE populist and progressive! You couldn't lose TOO badly in such a contest... whichever side won the votes!

If they don't adapt and the GOP dies out I won't shed any tears.

I remember hearing, "this isn't your grandfather's GOP"....but the tiny, elitist faction of the GOP didn't heed those words. They devolved into a miniscule minority of hateful, greedy, holy rolling obstructionists beholden to Grover Norquist. Their voices were magnified by FuxNoise to the point where they only existed inside a self-created bubble fueled by Koch money. So far, from the little I've heard, they're taking a step back to re-gather their talking points and continue obstructing the Pres. I think we have the momentum now to head them off at the pass.

The GOP made their own future murkey because they're murkey and full of arrogance, ignorance, indifference, intolerance, hatred, and greedy elitism which they often try to disguise as patriotism or being socially prudent. They made their filthy beds and can just rot in them as far as I'm concerned. Thanks Carrie.

I must admit that if you listen to the Repug/Tea Bagged post election lose they are falling into two categories. Those like Boehner who are offering the same crap economic/tax plan that Romney/Ryan ran on and lost as their bargaining position for fiscal talks. The others are those that are flat out saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Repug/Tea Bagged Party Platform just the words used to promote their ideology.
It was said that after the Repugs lost the 2008 election they lost their minds; it can be said that after the 2012 election they have completely packed up and moved into their own alternative reality. Consider as proof: they no longer subscribe to a mathematic system where 2+2=4 but where 14 Trillion in debt+ 7 Trillion in debt = 0 debt + jobs, they no longer consider true/fact and false/lie to be distinctoppositess. One could call it sociopathic or psychotic except that a sociopath and a psychopath can actually make change, can actually give you directions to the corner store the same can no longer be said about Repug/Tea Bagged.

It is also a warning for the Dems to grow some spine. If any party doesn't listen to the people (us "folks") instead of $$, they too will be out sitting on the curb. 2012 NOT the end (physical) of the world, but the beginning of the end of politics as it has been.

I just read a thread that Puerto Rico might petition for statehood. The Republicans' future would become murkier yet if the voting public increased by an additional 4 million Hispanics.

Change and adapt or become obsolete. The demographics have changed and so have the issues. How much more clarification do you need? I think the days of bipartisan politics is coming to a close and in the future will be much more issue driven.

I sat and watched the Republican campaigns this year in jaw dropping wonder! I thought I was living in an alternate universe. I also kept hearing that they were going to win. I was frantic. I thought the voters in this country had all gone completely nuts! All of the Repub ideas were so off the wall that the very thought that anyone, let alone women, would actually vote for them made me think for a brief time of moving to Canada, If my beloved country would now fall into the hands of these crackpots we could all kiss our liberties and freedoms goodbye. Fortunately it was all smoke and mirrors........and Fox News!

Now the sane among us and our new legislators can start moving us in the right direction again. Hopefully the Republican notion that if you give large tax breaks the the gazillionaires they will create jobs will at long last be put to rest. They do, but unfortunately they are overseas. It never worked and never will but the Repugs think if they say it enough it will magically come true. Sorry guys, you're busted! FINALLY!!!

IIt's a new day in America! Thank God!

It really amazes me the cluelessness that is evidently rampant among the GOP. Mitt Romney was somebodies bad version of your uptight Uncle Lou from back in the 1950s. Do they not realize that there are others in this country than whites and the rich? His remarks during a "private" dinner was the beginning of the end. They make no bones that they care less about the common man, those of us who work in the trenches to provide their daily bread, keeping their already stuff coffers in offshore accounts full. The GOP could at least pretend to care, and didn't do a good job of that!

They don't seem to understand that this is a new day. We, the people, want new ideas cause the old ones haven't worked in a long time. We're tired of the parties playing politics with our lives, and the lives of our children. Tired of lies and rhetoric spewed during their vie for office. Then once in office suspending their votes on critical needs of our people to make the guy in charge look bad, while we suffer.

To say that Social Security is a hand out!! How out of touch with reality. I've been forced to put into the system for more than several decades and now, at the end of my career, I'm compared to a leech on the system. What the hell? Then give me back all the monies I and my employers were forced to shell out for the past decades . . now .. with interest!

It's really scary that these degree waving, suit wearing dolts have jobs at all. None should be in office. Its the fools among us who vote the way their "daddy's" did instead of voting with their brains and hearts.
