" In fact, 6 in 10 voters nationwide say they think taxes should be increased. The question of returning the high end tax rates to those during the Clinton era.

aCTUALLY THE MAJORITY OF THE TOP 2% SAY THEY WOULD BE HAPPY TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES FOR THE GOOD OF THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS AND cOMMUNITYS AND sTATES AND cOUNTRY..AND REENSTATE THE MIDDLE CLASS, BACK TO BEING "MIDDLE CLASS......(FROM EVERYTHING THAT i HAVE READ FOR OVER 2 YEARS)...It is the GOP/ REpublicans that are in office, that STOP IT...they are not 'VOTING FOR THE MAJORITY OF THEIR CONSTITUENTS"..............thAT IS WRONG!!! They are voting for the lobbiest, that gave them money..period...people Vs. a tiny group with $$ that destroys/ignores the Peoples opiion & vote...that is "GOP DICTATORSHIP"...IMPEACH THEM, ONE BY ONE, WITHIN OUR LAWS ON FACTS.....WE ARE NOT LEMMINGS AND THE USA CITIZENS ARE TIRED OF THE "LAME DUCK GOP/REPUBLICANS".....

Noted. Until they get rid of Grover Norquist and his "pledge not to raise taxes on the wealthy," I don't know if we're going to get very far down this road....at least in the House. Going to be up to Harry Reid if he changes the rules of the filibuster...for Dems to have any strength in that body.

They're really going to hold the middle class hostage now out of pure spite since their dreams of putting a Republican in the White House to replace the "liberal, muslim black man" have crumbled in front of their beady eyes. I do agree that taxes should be increased...on the 1% since they haven't paid anything remotely close to a fair share in generations and it needs to stop now. The 99% keep the country afloat and yet we get looked down on and treated like crap beneath the dirty feet of the arrogant, greedy, elitists of the 1%. Thanks Carrie.

OK~~don't get me wrong. I'm all for having the rich pay their fair share. But I am so tired of all the bashing when it comes to Republicans. Believe me~~I'm as poor as they come but I do have a problem with Big Government infiltrating my life! And that includes my healthcare.

It's so astonishing to me that in the 1950's when the country was still recovering from depression and getting back to economic stability the wealthy (with hardly any balking at all, but with a feeling of national pride) paid a 91% tax! Granted that was the highest rate, but from 50-61 - the rate remained about 80% average! During that time the country prospered as never before (even during the "I like Ike" era) - these GOP'ers in this age are purely addicted to greed! They must be taken down!!

Hey Kim, since when is demanding no gay marriage, vaginal probes, the undue arrests of countless minority persons, ridiculous gerrymandering, NOT big government? Not to speak of the desire to union bust, give jobs overseas, and reek havoc on our environment - though perhaps not "big government" but it cost the government billions of dollars in global warming costs, infrastructure, employment, and not to mention the costs of our military "industry" - the GOP has certainly worked hard to get their "bashing" and I can't think of any group of ignorant SOB's that deserve it more - and then some!!!

They should let the BushCo Tax Cuts expire. Then we don't have to negotiate with the GOP on this. After all, life was good under the higher rates with Clinton. Plus, it takes away GOPs negotiating power on cutting the Big 3.

Roseann, the problem with that is that some people are just now getting back on their feet and higher taxes for them could be devastating. The wealthy are the ones who need to pay their share.
