When members of Congress vote next month to determine who shall lead the House, odds are increasingly dim for House Speaker John Boehner's hold on power.

We definitely do NOT want a crazy tea partier in that position!

"Whatever the reason or excuse, Boehner has systematically sought to neuter conservatives by excluding them from the inner counsels of the House leadership. "

Awww, the right wing is so cute when they show their true cannibalistic colors. Maybe there are THREE voting blocks in the House and Democrats are the actual majority party with two subsets of right wingers constituting the other two. Now that would be fun...

Thanks Carrie for the link to the article by Adele M. Stan. While I detest Speaker Boehner I really wouldn't won't Rep Eric Cantor grabbing the gavel either. The bit of trivia regarding that the Speaker of the House does not need to be an elected House member was enlightening and Mr. Ornstein's suggestion of Mr Huntsman as Speaker was quite interesting. Read and noted.

I'll miss Boehner, because he is half decent as he nearly cries when he does something cruel and horrid.

Why does it not surprise me to learn that the Teahadists are cowards who are afraid to vote openly in a free America unless the vote is in secret. Like so many nasty insects under a rock they have to do their business in the utter darkness of ignorance that they crave so much for the rest of the country.

Eh tu Tea Party? Sounds a lot like the Roman senate of old doesn't it? Have you ever noticed that every time there is a tax cut or a minimum wage increase the cost of living goes up but wages don't? That's because the commodity traders and the politicians and hedge fund investors who benefit from this jack up the price of foods and other items. That started when Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall. Since then the deficit has ballooned 1000xs. You are into the trillions now as opposed to billions. How is another bailout going to save you? Increasing taxes on the rich is a band-aid solution. Take all streams of income and tax them at a fixed rate as such instead of the two and three tier capital gains system in place. Say you have a salary from your company and you pay 25-35% tax on it but you also have income from a hedge fund that you manage which is taxed at say between 7-15%. Your total income per annum should be taxed at the rate of 35%; without the Delaware tax loopholes being available to you. That is how the rich and corporations pay little or no tax at all. Redefining the tax laws and closing the loopholes puts the investment bankers; the commodity traders; and the large corporations back on a level playing field. That is one definite way you make the rich howl. Ridding the people of the 17% issuance tax on every American dollar would greatly help the economy too.

I like this, except that I'm simultaneously afraid that some still crazier clown will get his gavel.
Oh, and I love Carol H.'s comment!

Gawd, can you imagine one of those Bozo Baggers in that position? The country will be truly Kaput, the final nail in the coffin!

The extreme right wingers get more extreme even in the obvious defeat of their movement.

I can't wait for Jan 3 to see just WHO will come forward to introduce that resolution on the House floor for a secret ballot election... KUDOS to him, whoever it will be!
