A four-year lapse in release of new captive-born Mexican gray wolves to Southwest national forests could end next year, but the proposal, floated by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, is already drawing fire from environmentalists as inadequate and...

Noted. It seems that this policy is as progressive as the majority of Arizona's policies, which, regrettably, means that it isn't. Like many others, this decision seems to be based on politics rather than science and evidence.

Noted. Any release is good but this is really not enough and it sounds like it's a very small step.

TY Carrie. There is so much pressure on wolf populations. They are beautiful animals and deserve so much more consideration for population preservation.

This is about the most silliest Idea ever, they only want to enforce this idea and have the mexican wolves released from the minnesota zoo, to be brought down there into an area that is NOT wolf friendly and get killed... not a win situation for the wolves, its a political move. The Governor of New Mexico wanted the critically endangered wolf pack eliminated to the point she removed the female alpha even when she had 5 pups.. had a kill order and we took action and went into to court to save her life, which ended up losing 3 of the pups, the female was never replaced with the pack... 2 of the pups went looking for their mother and got lost...thier was a frenzy and the whole pack was decimated and finally the wonderful male alpha found his last remaining 2 pups... we will FIGHT ANY COURTS to allow any more going into that area..they will need to have a total protection in place for the wolves before there will be anymore released, we have been fighting FOR THE WOLVES! start thinking for them and not with emotions and greed

Just a side note... you will not find many wolf advocates promoting the idea of releasing any wolves into that area ...none

Does the person that works in the petstore really care about those animals, does that nurse genuinely care for her patients, do the people who work for fish and game depts. really stand up for these animals ... we need the right people on the right jobs, we need people who actually give a damn about what they do!

A terrible idea to put any more wolves in danger of being killed, The US Fish and Wildlife is a big joke and they should all be fired and replace with people that care about our wildlife.

The actions and the in-actions of the US Fish and Wildlife services has demonstrated over and over again that they are not FOR the wolves. This is further demonstrated by allowing specific states , Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota just to name afew commit mass murder and bloody massacres to continue. It seems that they cannot kill our wolves, including defenseless pups and denning mothers by poisoning, trapping, gassing, shooting and torture as they kill them fast enough. The freakish enjoyment of the slaughter of these magnificent, necessary, iconic wolves cannot high-light the basest quality of human nature enough. The word they use is "management" which is just a euphemism for murder. It is despicable and unconscionable and we are not fooled.

The groups that really care about and preserve our wolves, the ones that are willing to show how we can work with them , how they are essential for healthy and disease free wildlife and ecosystems are the ones that ought to be hired to run and oversee these programs. People who know what they are doing and respect our wildlife along with our humanity need to be consulted and brought in. The US Fish and Wildlife has a one way and outdated method of dealing with everything. They are out of date, wrong in calculations, out of touch and need to be disbanded. Bring in something new, creative and innovative with experts in the field.

We've seen what happens when the US Fish and Wildlife Services "run things". We have seen what Congress and Ken Salazar has allowed to happen to our wolves-- all against public policy. Our wolves were placed on the Endangered Species LIst because they were on the brink of extinction due to the same misguided, human behavior. Programs, energy, effort, money were put into programs to bring them back.
We did not bring them back just to slaughter the these sentient beings all over again! We are underwhelmed by the lack of protections and malice in their treatment and demand better. What is being done to them is inhumane and unpatriotic. STOP KILLING OUR WOLVES!

Our wolves MUST be put back on the endangered species list--.now. Never before has one group been singled out and stripped of their protections as has been done to our wolves. This deep betrayal of trust to the majority of American, taxpaying citizens who did not vote for this needs to be corrected. It needs to be done correctly and immediately.
