So a dude walks into a hospital...and got diagnosed with a hole in the wall of his stomach only explainable by the spicy Chinese hot pot he ate a few hours earlier.

An office I used to work in would hold a monthly dinner for employees and once in a while we'd go to a Sechwan or Thai restaurant. People would order incredibly spicy soup and sit there turning red and sweating. Call me crazy but this idea has never appealed to me. I feel sorry for this guy. Hopefully, he will adjust his diet.

You know, my husband and I both like "spicy" food. That does not include burning hole in the stomach food. Never could understand heat for the sake of heat without flavor.

I have never understood why people like food that 'hurts'. To each his own.

That's one chinese meal that you wouldn't want ever again or would be hungry for in a few hours.

I have eaten soup in a Thai restaurant that was so spicy, I was doubled and had to be taken outside for air.

I too love spicy food but if it overpowers the other spices and flavors in the food; what's the point? Food should be balanced. When I cook, I want you to notice the nuances in each mouthful - sweet or pungent; sour or aromatic. Did you notice the statement that many of the Chinese establishments have substituted chemical additives to replace the more expensive ingredients?

I've never been a fan of too spicy. Even liking spicy, this guy was just plain STUPID!

Oh wow. I think this man was very ignorant and so is anyone else who eats food that is SO spicy! What's the point? How can you enjoy it? I don't enjoy that is too spicy. Thx SO much for posting!! Very interesting story.

I have a serious penchant for spicy foods, but anything that extreme I'd have to shy away from...for the sake of my life. Thanks Carrie
