President Obama has done the unthinkable: proposing over $100 billion in cuts to Social Security.[1] And now Congress might go along with it. Use this form to send a clear message to your Representative:

The horror to to call this President a socialist .....yet, no other President has considered this cut in Social Security, nor had proposed the take over of private 401ks, or private pension accounts.

Carrie, you man the man Barack Obama, who said, "I wll fundmentally change this country" has fallen from grace with the liberals? No.....this CAN'T be happeni!! Shake hands with Obama a man none of you knew when you voted for him not once but twice!

Liberals deserve Obama.

Bush's privatization scheme was a cut to Social Security Allan. Likewise when he encouraged American workers to invest in the 401Ks, right before the collapse. Luckily, I realized, any Bush idea was a bad idea and I did not go for that.

Allan, now the liberals are opening their eyes to who Obama really is. All they had to do was read his book "Dreams From My Father" where, in his own words, he told us exactly who he is. I don't believe liberals bought his book but my guess is that a large percentage of republicans DID buy his book and read it from front to back.

Sorry Diane, but we liberals are still happy with our choice. Unlike conservatives, we just don't happen to follow blindly we we don't like what is happening. By the way, all of this would have been resolved long ago were it not for the obstructionist Tea Party. Poor Boehner has been neutered by his own party.

Carrie, your comment was filled with "excuses." You aren't anywhere near in touch with Obama's agenda. I hope you live his agenda to the fullest. You deserve it. You voted for him. Don't like what he is doing? Deal with it.

Oh Diane, you sound so bitter! Shame on you. I am quite happy with my choice for president. Unlike you, I am also a realist and know that there will be thing I like and things I dislike about my President, but I also know I would suffer greatly under a Romney presidency. Maybe in 2016 the republicans can put up a real candidate to run for president instead of a lifeless, out of touch money man, who is nothing but a puppet for the rich. Now that might be something to see!

By the way Allan, your comment about Obama threatening to take over 401K's and pension plans is a complete falsehood. And the GOP has been trying to privatize Social Security for years. Look what would have happened if we had done that!

Sadly I see Obama approving the XL pipeline, fracking and other environmental ills as well as this offer. I wish he would offer up meaningful cuts to his social spending programs and not the areas that the country and its citizens depend on.

As much as I'd hate to see tax raise for the poor, middle class and especially unemployed losing benefits if all fall over the cliff, the best thing about that would be the MILITARYspending cuts !

Signed and noted. There is NO need for this, none. Progressives hold all the cards in this political game of hold 'em and there's no reason at all to back down an inch. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Most unwise to spend the political capital won in November this way, and it will hurt come 2014 if the democrats do. political ping pong...

I'm with Carrie! We LOVE our Prez...but there are compromises that must be made...especially with the wackjob tea party being so crazy! I think Obama has something up his sleeve, though. As for Romney, we dodged a major bullet when he went down in flames!

Diane O. (164)
Friday December 28, 2012, 3:30 pm
Chris, in your vernacular, you may have dodged a bullet with Romney but you hurled yourself into a deep dark fiscal hole with Obama. I'm constantly amazed at the liberals who actually believe that we can continue to print money to fund every social program in our country. The math isn't working and that translates into: unsustainable. Interesting word. The liberals should look up the meaning of that word.

They need to make cuts internally including the wasteful spending on contractors that overcharge. Of course they know they are being overcharged but they hire the contractor because he is a friend of a friend or someones family member; the gov wastes billions in that way.

I'm on disability and was "awarded" an increase of $38 a month. Wow when gas here in California has been as high as $5 or more per gallon...with no real explanation. Oh, and be sure to mess with my Medicare so when my cancer raises its ugly head again I can just wonder what kind of care I will get.

Orange, why is gas $5 a gallon? Explore that. ObamaCare has already "messed" with your healthcare and there are huge cuts in his plan. If you have a problem with that then you need to pick up the phone and call Obama. And, oh, while you have him on the phone, ask him why the premiums have also gone up. Go to the source for your answers.

And, Chris, I'm way beyond the election. Obama won by a very slim margin which tells us a great deal. I'm concerned about my country for the next four years. You should be, too.
