Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) has approved a controversial package of abortion restrictions that will limit abortion access for women who live in rural areas, require doctors to prove that mentally competent women haven't been "coerced" ...

But there's no war against women, according to the GOP!

How could you guess this would come from a republican ? The most regressive, antiquated, bunch of old fools on the planet. Yeah, lets keep letting the morons , nuts and bullies run the country. Stand up American women and let your voices be heard. This behavior is UNacceptable and we don't have to take it anymore. When Rick Snyder becomes pregnant and his life is in danger HE can deal with losing his life for his fetus. Until that time do not tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies and their lives. Write to him, write to any republican and let them know what you think. Stop letting them get away with this crap.

It figures, if Republicans can't outright ban abortions they all make it harder and more complicated to get an abortion. I'm just glad I don't live in Michigan.

What do they think the word "coercion" actually means?

Doesn't it describe exactly the programme the pro-life-before-birth thoughtfree promoters are pushing?

Haven't we had enough of these Republican and other religious assholes who want their unbridled freedom to dictate their social, economic and moral values on everyone else?

GET MAD!!!!

yeah, I got the form e-mail message from him. What total BS! He must have been pre New Years celebrating when he wrote it. All I could think was...if his female offspring needed an abortion, he would be the go to guy to write out a check for it.
Don't think for a minute it doesn't happen to well heeled Repubs. It just never makes the National Inquirer like the news of which celeb has a baby bump does.
Yeah....how come we NEVER hear of celebs getting abortions??????

Noted...thanks Carrie. Has anyone else seen this movie before? He is running the Republican Governor's playbook on how to attack women, animals, and organized labor. This is the third of those three that Gov Snyder is attacking. Inherently lost in this playbook is a plan for creating jobs. What is interesting to note is how these radicals get elected in fairly strong blue states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio) and a state that is at least moderately blue like Virginia. It is really important to turn out the vote in non-national elections. For the life of me, I can't understand how these bills even advance within the state legislatures when they are so inherently hurtful and dangerous to not only a woman's reproductive health, but to her overall health in general. It is unconscionable.

The people in the State of Michigan must recall snyder from office asap.

The new legislatures must do what the can to overturn many of snyder's bills that he signed.

Unbelievable!

Ty, Carrie.

Republicans, always touting less government until they get into office. Then it is more and more restrictions on the most personal aspects of your life.

I've read that new laws like these are being legally challenged in other states because they are against the law of Roe v. Wade. Many of these laws are being struck down based on that. Hopefully, this will happen here as well. This is an issue of health....a decision made between patient-physician, and should never be compromised. No "opinions" or "emotional drama" regarding abortion should be part of this....but, that's all these patriarchs base their decisions on. They all need to be driven from office, and never seen or heard from in public again.

A woman can make another fetus, but if she dies, any existing children will have lost their mother. Who is being protected here?
