Some people are so stupid and mean! It looks like the Lions don't have anywhere to hide either!
I believe this is one reason why pitbull dogs have a bad name because of the way they get taunted! Can't think of a second reason.

I totally do not want to come across as a race hater, but why is it that every story I read or hear about that involves Chinese people and animals, it always involves them either eating the poor animals, killing or buying illegal animals or parts, or just plain abusing and torturing animals? It seems as though they have zero respect or compassion for animals. This story makes me furious. And I too agree with Arlene, WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE STOP THIS? Where the hell were the zoo keepers? I think that the human race got one too many stupid or cruel genes from the gene pool!

Tamara, I have wondered if the Chinese lack of empathy for animals has anything to do with the way they, as a people have been treated by their country. When people are treated as less than animals and are shown little compassion, love and respect, how can they show compassion, love, and respect for animals?

These are people who need to be educated and shown a better way than the current one.

This makes my blood boil! You are right, Carrie, many Chinese are not taught anything about compassion, many do not even show it to their own children, let alone animals. I guess it's up to the rest of the world to teach them about it. And tell them not to lock lions up in an enclosure full of snow, these are animals from Africa where it's hot, look after them properly, please!

Where were the care takers? Why was someone photographing this instead of trying to stop it? This is so appalling to me that I will have trouble sleeping. This was nothing but sheer cruelty.

These people are a disgrace to the human race, picking on some poor animal that is unable to fight back! We can all be quite sure that they would not behave so if they were not totally safe from any reprisals - DISGUSTING AND UNCIVILISED!!! (And every nation has some of them unfortunately, however that is no excuse for letting this behaviour continue! ) All those people should be prosecuted for animal cruelty!

The Chinese have a reputation of being cruel to animals, and this proves it. This poor lion & lioness stuck way down in a pit, and the 'brave' idiots throwing snowballs at them. This shows their stupidity or is it a lack of caring?

I seriously think the Chinese Government, Brain Washes their Citizens from birth...They all act like robots, and you very rarely see them show any emotion, about anything...I just can't understand how they are so unfeeling, and show no compassion...I have nothing against their Country or their race, but I would just like to see some humanity and feelings coming from the people...
