An off-duty Oregon police officer was arrested on charges of attempted aggravated murder following a shootout with Washington County sheriff's deputies in which he allegedly pulled a shotgun on fellow officers.

Noted. I had to read this a couple times, because I couldn't believe it. Although he was "arrested on charges of attempted aggravated murder following a shootout.." The article ends with, "....it could end Cannon's career....if it is proved that he was acting in a reckless manner...he wouldn't be able to continue as a police officer."
What?! Seems like his arrest and the charges would end his career. Either I missed something, or something smells rotten in this town.
