The Iranian government announced on Monday that they had successfully launched a monkey into space. The monkey has now safely returned to Earth. None of this, however, has been independently verified.

Ty Carrie. . .

"People must have renounced, it seems to me, all natural intelligence to dare to advance that animals are but animated machines.... It appears to me, besides, that [such people] can never have observed with attention the character of animals, not to have distinguished among them the different voices of need, of suffering, of joy, of pain, of love, of anger, and of all their affections. It would be very strange that they should express so well what they could not feel." ― Voltaire, Traité sur la tolerance

This has been making me sick for two days now, since I read about it! Those bastards and that poor monkey. Ahminijad is the "monkey" they should have sent into space with no possiblity of returning to earth!

"We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace." ―Albert Schweitzer, The Philosophy of Civilization

Sad as it is, this is nothing new. The Russians sent a dog, Little Lemon, into space in the 1950s. The USA sent a monkey. (They even sent humans.) Seriously, we humans the world over have a lot to learn about what human kindness really means. Example and education may eventually tip the scale -- to what is ironically called 'the hundredth monkey' effect.

Well, I don't believe it for a second. This from the country that denies the Holocaust happened? All they managed to do, in my opinion, was terrify a poor little creature. I don't think the lot of them could fly a kite let alone manage anything of true scientific significance. They can SAY they did anything, and they DO, but that doesn't mean anyone need buy what they are selling. This "super power" wannabe couldn't even beat Saddam in a fair fight not so long ago even using children in the front lines - they've not evolved past that in any way. Hot air spewing blowhards that they are even if they did manage to toss a monkey into the air, there's no way they could catch it on the way down. Not without poking out an eye...

I'm with above comments. Can't even look at the little monkey. Why not send a nasty criminal instead. Maybe an animal abuser. Who gives a rat's ass if he comes back. Thanks Carrie

Monkeys are our relatives... except monkeys wouldn't do such a thing to their human friends. It is obvious who is the real beast here.
