I watched this on TV news and sad to say but, I don't think it moved the conversation from the THEM verse US fight that continues on and on. More shootings more death, and no one wants to "upset" the NRA - screw the NRA - we need some rational thinking. We need Congress to put aside their allegiance to the NRA and other gun lobbies and do something for the public safety. If reelection is more important than at least making the effort to register guns, do background checks and limit the number of cartridges in a clip than they are useless to us.

Gabby Giffords is the most beautiful, courageous (sp?) brave, woman I have ever seen. We don't know for sure that her speech didn't have a strong enough impact on Congress yet, but I had a roommate in college who G.G. reminds me so much of. I understand a whole lot more about brain injury because I've lived with mine for 52 years and I learned so much more after my parents enrolled me at The Institute For The Achievement of Brain Injured People in PA. to be home programed.

I didn't mean to get off the topic, Carrie. Thank you for a great post.

Gabby has courageously said now what her fellow politicians must have the GUTS to act upon! That's the key...for politicians to have the courage to really, finally DO something...to stand up to the NRA and lobbyists...about common sense gun control!

Thanks so much for posting, Carrie. This is my former Congresswoman. Our new representative was her former aide, who was also at the "Congress on Your Corner" that day and was shot 3 times. I know he's for sensible gun reforms and regulations.
DemandAPlan.org is a place for sensible gun legislation...I already signed up there.

A 9 yr. old girl was among the crowd that day, and she died of her wounds. It was a very sad day here in Tucson. It was shocking that no action was taken by Congress after one of their own was nearly killed doing her job. Almost more shocking is the level of anger and aggression towards any reform...after the murder of 20 first graders in CT. When the NRA response to this is, "we must arm every teacher," it's time for us all to recognize the evil and greed that exists in this organization whose only job is to lobby for gun manufacturers.
