Is the bipartisan immigration reform led by the "Gang of 8″ a breakthrough on a seemingly intractable issue -- or deja vu all over again? In judging whether immigration reform will succeed, it's helpful to know why so many past attempts have failed.

Given Obama's position on immigration reform, we as Americans are in serious trouble.

Let us hope we don't end up with a biased group to approve whether or not border security is sufficient for other parts to move forward that has been rumored to ensure nothing ever actually gets done--the same ones who carry a lot of responsibility for past efforts not actually helping immigrants.

Can't agree with you Carrie. The plan as put forth represents the desires of all sides in this debate. It's a good compromise, contains some teeth but is still lacking in detail. I think that if any of this were removed or softened we would never gain consensus.
