Instead of the dramatics, cut the NRA off at its knees through legislation. What Obama wants, and what he will get are two different things.

For better or worse, legislative change, policy change and social and political change do involve dramatics in democractic socieities. Only dictators can get around it.

I am very happy with Obama. Much more that with my present government here in Israel. I am ashamed of them really.

This will make all those who vote against gun control reform laws look like the self serving, bought and paid for politicians they really are!

It was a great speech and polls show that most Americans are all for these measures - so if Congress refuses to act, it's another nail in their coffin.

Laugh OUT Loud, Carrie, thunderous applause????? You are a trip. The SOTU viewer rating was the LOWEST it has been since 2000.

Thunderous applause? i don't think so. Obama is a loser president. The only thing he has accomplished while in office is to give Jimmy Carter a promotion.

I attended a local watch party; the room was PACKED.
SOME of us need to remember that not EVERYONE watches TV; the ONE poll mentioned is only from TV 'watchers'.from ONE source...times HAVE changed!!!!

But the haters, low information voters, trolls, racists, Koch heads, etc. do not give a damn about FACTS...sad, but true.

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India,
history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.

Read attentively and noted. For the President's sake, but more so to the victims families and friends of all this
gun violence, that these measures are acted upon and put into effect. If the Republicans hold back, it will show just what they stand for.
Thanks Carrie.

Adding my thanks, Carrie...sorry I can't send you a green star since I sent one within the past week.
Obama was absolutely right on this one. MAKE them take a vote so we can all see who the rats are. I thought this was an excellent delivery, and agree that the applause was thunderous. I even rewound to watch it again.
