As the Texas Senate begins debating the anti-abortion bill that sparked a series of protests that garnered national attention, Republicans backing the measure drew more criticism for confiscating women's hygiene products from attendees at the gallery.

No tampons allowed in a woman's handbag today in the Texas state senate, but concealed weapons were OK!

Oh brother, just when you think the GOP has lost all their marbles, they lose some-more. At least their making themselves so ridiculously unpopular and an embarrassing farce, that no one will vote for the old coots.

Today they really need to check there-selves in to a mental health clinic. Oops they closed them too! But that's OK, keep it up, your sending the GOP to its grave. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Wow, can you imagine all these dangerous women with their lethal tampons and sanitary pads... one must arm himself with guns in defense! SICK TERRIFIED COWARDS!!!

What I'm wondering is if there was a "demonstration" planned with pads and tampons. Were there really that many women needing them today? I can't help but think there's more to this. Perhaps there was something on social media that they were aware of and that's why they took these products.

Perhaps women now should hide the tampons and sanitary pads in some concealed-weapons???

Thanks for posting, Carrie...

I suppose those "lawmakers" would prefer to have bullets hurled at them via
a concealed-handgun than a tampon.

Part of the stuff in a woman's handbag usually has tampons just like having a wallet with them
at all times. A gun - heaven forbid, gasp.

Teaxass g o p puke legislators have now become the laughing stock in US.
Thank you Gov. Perry. Late Night Time shows are going to have fun with this one. lol.

Ty, Carrie.

I can't believe that men are so scared of thinking women that they go this far to stop them. When and where were these "men" raised...I don't care what they do at home to the women of their families but darn it....leave me and mine alone. I also can't believe these idiots are still being elected, Texas you get what you vote for so clean up your own house.

Well, it passed, 19 to 11, and we know Perry will sign it. Good luck, Texas.

Someone had better do something soon to stop this type of utter nonsense or we will have no rights left at all. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS, LADIES!!!! DON'T BACK DOWN!!! DON'T LET THEM UNDO WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO KEEP OUR RIGHTS AS WOMEN AND AS CITIZENS OF THE U.S.!!!

"As Think Progress reported, however, attendees with concealed-carry licenses were still being allowed to bring firearms into the gallery."

Just when you think republican's can't get any crazier, they do. Confiscate tampons because they could hurt senators, but allow guns because, well, they couldn't possibly. If this doesn't draw 500 editorial cartoons today across the country it will be because cartoonists are saving the ammunition, pun intended, for the nice big color cartoons tomorrow. Fools, damn fools and morons. The proud party of Ronald Reagan. May they rot in whatever hellhole they go to next...

Once again, Carrie, glad you are back.
What's the mailing address, Yvonne...just joking.
Gene, on spot again. Proudly the party of Reagan. I know a devout Republican, a lawyer, who felt the need, during Dubya's reign, to tell me "I'm not a Bush Republican, I'm a Reagan Republican."
I don't think he's yet quite gotten over my dressing Saint Reagan down. Among the other crkmes of integrity he perpetrated, he opened the door of the White House to the Gerry Falwells and Pat Robertsons of the religious right, and his boys on SCOTUS are still destroying the Constitution.

P. S.:
I'm having a video ply in my head, of tons of women in the gallery, in Austin, and I know a woman who was in the capitol building during the "Wendyness", raining down tampons by the thousands on the heads of the fools on the floor. It would be like a new form of "Summer Snow," when the seeds of the Cottonwoods fall from the skies!

As I commented on another similar posting about this insanity -- did I fall asleep and miss the part where the Taliban took over America?

Wasn't part of the justification for the continued war in Afghanistan about protecting the rights of women and girls there? Does America need to now invade itself to fight the war against these misogynistic bastards (over)running the state and federal governments?

Yvonne White (232)

Amitav, you must understand that RepubliCON religion & platform out-Taliban's the Taliban - ONLY females in Muslim countries must be "saved" & Only the "un-born" children of either sex must be nutured here in America. Once in America women are promptly given second-class rights & told to shut up. And yes, we WILL need to disinfect government with a nice bonfire if we REALLY want to take ourselves seriously.

Not surprised - Tampons vs Guns?? No-brainer, if you live in TX. Can't kill anyone with Tampons.

Shoving tampons down politicians throats seems a viable way to suffocate them - and politicians NEVER shut their stupid mouths, so they ARE asking for it!;)

Wow, I never thought that anyone would be threatened by my O.B. Tampons! Just what kind of damage do these idiots think a little tampon will do? I hope the women who got their tampons taken away left a trail of protest if you get my drift.

I just couldn't stop staring at the title of this article when I first saw it. I think I had to read each word 2ce before I could get it to sink in. I guess I'd better not wonder what these lunatics will think of next. Wouldn't this be about the right time for a big push towards getting the Equal Rights Amendment passed in those few states that have been hold-outs long these many decades? Now, that we're getting the ball rolling over the Xtian Taliban, let's push as hard as we can. It's time to silence them and these issues once and for all and get down to the business of a green economy, taxing the wealthiest & corporations, raising the minimum wage, repairing our infrastructure and so many other important issues.

For Theatre of the Absurd, just wander into the Texas Senate. Pour yourself a cup of tea from a pot of overly steeped and bitterly brewed right wing tea bags but one can have guns admitted... but personal female hygiene products are disallowed. Heaven knows, these could plug up the Senate toilets if misused!

"Oh, me oh my...those female things? What a real man to do? It could be a lethal weapon if she hit me over mah head with it." (The loud whimpering sounds of a Tea Bagger Senator when confronted various aspects of the realities of the feminine world).

Unbelievable! And I thought that the right wing in Canada was bizarre, but Texas takes the cake. (I guess they don't allow tampon dispensers in the female wash rooms either?) Or rest rooms or whatever Americans call their bathrooms these days. Toilets for the public and even the staff.

Nice one Ginger !! I was thinking along the same lines, but wondered if my thoughts wouldn't be construed as too crude, but you found a beautiful way of expressing them !!

Thanks Carrie for the link ..... I really needed a good laugh and you came up with "the goods" !!!
