'Texas Thinks of Women as Second-Class Citizens - If It Thinks We're Citizens at All'

Some Democrats see the abortion row played out in Austin's statehouse as a turning point for Texas liberals. But with the bill now passed by the state senate, others warn that life will get even harder.

It is my personal opinion that pro-choice people are going about the issue in the wrong way.
Every year more and more women are being elected to state legislatures, or to congress and the U.S. Senate.
It is just not a winning strategy to defend the taking of life. (I do understand how personal this decision is.) Women make up 35% of the electorate but fail to show in the mid-terms. They have the power to change legislatures state by state.

Women in elected positions need to begin to introduce legislation to castrate men who are irresponsible fathers.
See who votes against it and women that don't want government to legislate their vagina's will have their issue. And I believe a majority to go with it.

Hear that, ladies? That was the sound of literally millions of female theighs slamming shut in this Dawg forsaken state that I have the ill fortune of existing in. Oh yeah.....we are mad as Hell, we will not forget this and we will vote in 2014 and 2016.

I keep telling y'all this is the most Fascist state in the US. All we females are to these backwoods inbred rednecks are brood mares, maids, momma substitutes, cooks and whores. And what amps me up the most is so many females are brainwashed or so lacking in self-respect/self-esteem that they willingly go along with whatever their man says or does. Sickening.

They are terrified of women such as myself or Kit....we have brains and we use them, we have education and we use it, we have careers (or had careers) and make as much or more than a lot of the men around here. Oh, and, our wombs do NOT define us. All I can say is.....thank Dawg I'm SPAYED.

And right now, methinks there are many thousands of females in this state that are thinking real hard about having that

Men are afraid of our IQ scores.

They want us to be the little women who gaze at them with adoring eyes and never think a single original thought. They don't consider the consequences of such.

WHO would get them out of their quandaries?

“Women are second-class citizens in Texas, if we’re even considered citizens at all,” says Vicki Bishop as she waits in brutal heat to pass through the airport-style security. “I have been an apathetic voter for years – until now.”

This is my hope. That women are galvanized in Texas as never before, that they turn out in droves for progressive candidates and end the Tea Party's takeover of their state. If they do not, if they stay on the sidelines, these white males will continue to whittle away at the rights of women as never before emboldened as they are now. Or at least until the law is held to be unconstitutional. Women can take over Texas if they decide they want to. I hope this spurs them to that very thing.

Have any of you seen photos of unborn babies after 20 weeks in the womb? Did you know that they are actually yawing, sucking their fingers and toes? Did you know that they are a breathing human being? Late term abortions are flat out murder.

A woman knows when she is pregnant. She knows it two to three days after she misses her period. So, why would any woman who didn't want to be pregnant wait to end weeks to abort the pregnancy? Why not end it right there at that time before the baby is fully formed and thriving inside of her? Anyone have an excuse for why a woman would wait weeks and weeks after knowing she is pregnant to get an abortion? I would appreciate some liberal feed back on this.

It always gets back to personal responsibility. That will never change no matter how the liberals ignore it.

The one comment I will agree with is that Austin is a flaming liberal city. And, yes, women should be able to decide what happens to their own bodies but they have to take responsibility for killing a fully formed human being who smiles in the womb, sucks its fingers and toes and yes, yawns. How can any of you think that this is okay? What in the hell is the matter with you people? Laws have to be in place for taking the life of a fully formed baby. We all know that some of these late term abortions haven't worked and the aborted baby is fighting for life and a doctor just reaches down and snips their spinal cord and then the baby is dumped. Aren't you glad that didn't happen to you?

If you heard of someone kicking and slamming a pregnant dog or cat you would be outraged! Save those puppies!! You would be marching with signs in your hands in DC or in your home towns. But, the life of an unborn human being? Nah....that's not important. But save those puppies and to save those puppies and kittens. I know, your goal is to save the puppies and kittens and then you will spay and neuter them so that they can't produce more litters. Why aren't you on the band wagon to spay and neuter the many women on welfare who produce a baby a year with different fathers? Why aren't you advocating for sterilizing these people? Because they are human beings? Well, so is an unborn child. An animal is an animal.

We need to turn out with the same enthusiam

That opening quote has an oxymoron in it: "Texas thinks...?"
Some people in Texas do, indeed, think, but they are not among Perry's group.

Mitchell D (87)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 2:07 pm
Gloria, I do not think that leaving the state will help. I think the women need to stay there, BUT GET OUT AND VOTE! And do it time and again. Perhaps that will cause the election of people, perhaps more women with their heads on straight, and thus change the culture there. "
Heads on straight," means NOT religious fundamentalists, nor greedy bastards.
Laura H, I hope you are right about Ohio. Good work for Sherod Brown!

You people are a piece of work.....promoting late term abortions. Promoting murdering a baby who smiles and yawns in the womb. Promoting late term abortions where some babies are aborted alive and thriving and are then put out of their misery with a snip to their spinal cords. All of you need to hang your heads in shame. That's murder.

Diane O., you obviously didn't read the article~as usual.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 3:20 pm
Of course I read's the same old crap. The liberals believe it is okay for people to make their stupid choices someone else's problem....mainly the taxpayers. Liberals are constant enablers....they teach the illegals and the ignorant in our society who can't make good choices for themselves that they needn't worry...the taxpayer's will take care of it.

It's just another bull$hit law to freak out liberals, while the CONservatives use it to preach - How many abortions are performed After 20 weeks anyway? Usually it's because the woman is in danger or the fetus is Already Dead! As far as I know it's Always a medical problem, not a flight of fancy that the woman just decided to end screw off you idiot "law-makers" & we'll see if you can buy yourself another job come election time.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 4:04 pm
Yvonne, do your research. Irresponsible women get pregnant. If they didn't want to get pregnant they have many methods at their fingertips including abstinence because they have no protection. We have women who wait beyond 20 weeks and decide that they don't want the baby. Their answer is to murder the baby so that they can be free of it.

IF the mother is in danger of dying if she continues the pregnancy that's a medical issue and that has nothing to do with stupidity or lack of self control. Every single woman here on Care 2 knows what to do if they do not want to get pregnant. It's a woman's job to protect herself. It's a man's job to protect himself. It's called common sense and personal responsibility. We aren't animals. We are human beings. We need to act like responsible human beings.

Diane, may I suggest you read the article before you embarrass yourself further?

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 4:36 pm
I've read the article from The Raw Story website. My comments stand. Perhaps you don't like my comments. My comments pertain to the abortion issue and the closing of facilities is but a small part of this issue.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 4:39 pm
Perhaps if I put this in the liberal vernacular that closing animal facilities that euthanize animals we would get somewhere.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 4:52 pm
Evidently, you do not understand my comments. I think that is the bigger issue here otherwise you would have something of importance to contribute in a rebuttal.

When you make comments about someone's mother it shows a pure level of immaturity on your part.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 4:53 pm
You need to look up the definition of a troll. You are on a public website. No? Or is this a private thread?

Carrie B (306)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 5:06 pm
I see no trolls here~only one very misinformed and backward woman.

Yvonne White (229)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 5:10 pm
It's okay, I'm sure some man has explained everything certain people need to know.

Diane O (194)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 5:51 pm
It is your personal opinion that you think I am misinformed. It is my opinion that you do not have a rebuttal to my comments. This is precisely why you keep saying the same thing. The abortion topic has been facets to it and all of them are important to note. When a thread is about abortion it opens the gate to all things pertaining to this topic.

John C (75)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 6:04 pm
I don't think you are misinformed Diane O. You are poorly led. To fight for the unborn and starve them later by cutting food stamps kind of leaves you out on a limb as well as shows your proclivity to legislate your morality.

I also see that you failed to note the article. Doing so promotes a subject for discussion. That you failed to do so betrays your intent to disrupt. That is what a troll is. It is OK to disagree. As we get closer to mid-terms I expect to see more of your "opinion on the Newly Submitted stories. Up to now you are haunting the Front Page.

Do you honestly feel that women should not get prenatal care for their unborn fetus...

Complications do arise and occur after 20 weeks... for the Mother, for the fetus, for both Mother & fetus.

Laura H (964)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 8:56 pm
For the hypocrites; UNTIL YOU 'adopt' a pregnant woman who cannot afford health care or may lose her job because of a difficult pregnancy, etc... and YOU pay ALL of her bills/rent; AND you adopt the baby once he/she is born...
THEN maybe you have a say in this matter!! Until then- step up or shut up!!!
HOW DARE YOU!!! Women know what is best concerning their bodies, their lives, their future children!! That is their own PERSONAL (government stay the HELL out of it!!) decision; keep your religious views out of someone else's uterus!!!
What about the 80 million orphans who are here and suffering? How many of them have YOU adopted?
Have YOU voted in favor for FOOD STAMPS, HEAD START programs, SCHOOL lunches, etc.? NO? Why not-these children have been born and they need HELP!! Stop calling their mom's "welfare queens" etc. START to promote sex ed and fund Planned Parenthood (only 3% of what they do are abortions so don't even go there) / contraception which would reduce the number of unwanted/unplanned pregnancies which means less abortions!
By the way; no one LIKES abortions BUT there will always be a need for them. Women will NOT go back to the 'coat hanger in the back room days' NO WAY.
I am SICK and tired of the extreme religious right shoving their views down the throats of everyone else especially since most of them are HYPOCRITES.
Are they VEGAN?!!.
I am pro-life (a proud vegan) and pro-choice.
The ones who are anti-abortion are ANTI-CHOICE.
Oh, and by the way...not every pregnancy is the same. Some women give birth to a full term baby and never had ONE sign they were pregnant; so don't even go there!

Notice how the haters use the term "illegals" which is just as bad as the "N" word or the "R" word or the "F" word...
And I'm tired of "aren't you glad YOU weren't aborted?" which is LAME...if I had been I wouldn't know it.
"That's murder"-bullsh*t...the same hypocrites who use that line also LOVE their guns and are in favor of the death penalty!!!

John C (75)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 9:07 pm
I own guns. Hope that will not diminish my words here. I also own a fire extinguisher. That does not mean I intend to burn down the house.
It is just simply time for government to either get out of the business of Vagina's or go to medical school. It is as simple as that.

Yvonne White (229)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 9:22 pm
LOL, too true John!:) I'm a liberal, non-vegan, gun-owner as well (that should cause shudders amongst CONservatives).I have 3 sons & so far no grandkids - as a Baby Boomer I am past needing the Pill or abortion, but I would never presume to tell another woman what she Should or should not do in that area. Calling women Stupid for getting pregnant is really funny - very Palin-esque!;) Without stupid women there would be no RepubliCONs!

Laura H (964)
Sunday July 14, 2013, 9:35 pm
John and Yvonne; I hope you know what I meant when I mentioned "guns'; for the most part the so called "pro-life" fanatics are the same people who are against all COMMON SENSE (what 90% of the country wants) gun control.
The vegan issue is just my way of saying "what is pro-life?"
Love your comments my friends!

Yvonne White (229)

I got it Laura, I also know you wouldn't cram your life-style down anyone else's throat. But some people just like to rile others up by making blanket statements just for the irritation factor. I don't see the point of arguing - it's like watching FAUX News, pointless, misleading, & devoid of reality.
