Harry Reid's Winning Hand

Harry Reid talked big on Monday about getting rid of the Senate filibuster for executive nominations, but talking big is not the same as acting big. For a while there, a so-called compromise was rumored to be in the works.

I keep getting petitions calkling for filibuster reform in my email, even tonight, so I'm confused about this whole business here and can't say if what Reid got is sufficient or not.

Let's just say it's a good start.

Reid had no intention of attempting to change anything. If he did that would have been done back in January. These guys struck and deal and we have no idea about the back room deals.

At least it wasn't what McConnell wanted.

Once again the alleged GOP "leadership" in the Senate (aka RINOs) gave away the store to the Demagogues and manipulative Horry Reid and got nothing. Not a victory for anyone except the radical Left in the appointments being made by this corrupt and radical administration. Not surprising that the front fool once again was Sen McManic (Idiot-AZ) and his merry band of rear end kissers.

Reid is an expert at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. What he got was temporary and does not apply to judicial nominees. Also some NLRB appointments will be changed (a different person appointed) befpre they will confirm. So far the only positive new I have heard is that Cordray has been confirmed.

Isn't Reid, in his senate seat so long that rigor has set in at both ends, old enough to die of natural causes?

The insanity evidenced by 400+ filibusters
needs to be stopped. The chief filibusterer
even filibustered himself!!!!!!!!

Anything that limits or disposes of filibuster is a good thing; the Republicans have held the government hostage, governing by extortion and manipulation of the rules of order for years. At least McConnell was denied an opportunity to gloat on the evening news this time but I wouldn't bet this will end stasis in either House.

What a mess! Yeah, good that we got Cordray & McCarthy....but that's about it. It changes nothing about the filibuster. I've signed petitions for the talking filibuster to become the norm. But, it seems that's not getting any traction. Fact is, when 90% of the country was for gun reform, Congress was deaf. But, when 40% of the country wants something that Corporate Congress wants to act on...whoosh!'s right there passing a bill. Peek in on C-SPAN some time, and watch so many Dems vote right alongside Reps....both houses. I wish people would get wise to the facts about our corrupted Congress....
