It's that time of year, the August congressional recess when lawmakers meet with constituents, and Illinois Democratic Senator Dick Durbin is mincing no words over proposed food stamp cuts. House Republicans had separated the food stamp program, SNAP...

What Jason said...and MORE! TY Carrie.
Unethical and Inhumane to humanity. During Obama's speech last week he mentioned he was going to get all the same ole promises accomplished in the next 3 years. I heard nothing other than feeding his enormous EGO. The boyZ in Congress are on vacay, again...
Good luck with your constituents Durbin and bring it home!

Cut everything for the poor to survive? This is just nasty.

Well it is nasty, but the nasty part is not new. The new part is what Senator Durbin is saying, and that is also the good part. With SuSanne, I say, bring it home!

Thanks, Carrie. I've been getting a couple mailings asking me to ask my members of Congress to support the Farm Bill. There is no possible way I can do that when they leave the SNAP program out of it. I wish more people knew what was actually in these bills (or left out of them) before asking their Congress critters for support.

Good luck with that, Dick. The GOPers in Congress will do anything to screw over people who need help, even if they screw over their own supporters at the same time. Kinda like Al-Queda blowing up other Muslims if they think they might get an American in the bargain.

The GOP voters don't really understand the SNAP program and trying to tell them doesn't seem to work beecause Fox News and G Beck all say it's the illegals and lazy poor people who get the most and by cutting the program it will force those people to either go home or to get a job...this according to my mother's view (GOP). This is what has to be fought to get more people to back the programs. I don't hold out much hope in that direction.
Read and noted. Thank you.

I hope something will come of this and somehow the people with blinders on and plugs in their ears will begin to understand just what the GOP has done and in doing to America

Technically, let's call this for what it is: Proposed Genocide against the poor.

Good for Sen. Durbin. I agree: "No food stamps, no Farm Bill". The thuglicans are interested in helping he rich get richer and the poor get nothing. They all need to be kicked out of OUR Congress. With congressmen like them, we wouldn't need enemies. They are our enemies. Shame on the lot of them. We have the kindergarteners running the country. VOTE THEM OUT WHILE WE STILL CAN.
