Tests Show Most Store Honey Isn't Honey

More than three-fourths of the honey sold in U.S. grocery stores isn't exactly what the bees produce, according to testing done exclusively for Food Safety News. The results show that the pollen frequently has been filtered out of products labeled "honey.

I buy an unfiltered honey produced by local bees on a farm not far from here. The only label is handmade by the family that owns the farm, so none of the labels listed fit this.

One more of many ways for Big Ag to get ya!

Thanks Carrie -

Noted. At this point, all I have left in me is a heavy sigh. So, honey's not honey anymore, and sugar isn't sugar.....

Isn't about time we have a petition...I, for one, am sick and tired of being bamboozled by the USDA and food producers. I would like to see something done to protect the consumers. I know, wishful thinking, especially when it comes to a government agency whose salaries are paid by the taxpayers, but augmented by MegaCorps.

I've stopped using honey now. If it's pure it's very, very expensive and if it's not pure it isn't healthy.

One of the many reasons I began tending bees in my yard a couple of years ago. I know EXACTLY what is coming from the hive

The only "protection" we get is poisining because of big money.
It's too mad that you must get informed about all food, cosmetics and so on.
Most food in the supermarket is artificial, it has almost nothing to do with real food.

Thanks Carrie for posting.

Big money for big "honey". Glad I still have access to the real thing. Thanks for posting.

This is a plain contradiction! Is honey, is not honey...
They must stop changing everything :(

Betsy is right on target. I learned when I was tested for food allergies that unless it is labeled "raw" it is not even legallly required to be 100% honey; it can contain corn syrup.
