I live in New Jersey where rent, mortgages and taxes are super high and so is the cost of food, electricity, name it! Congress had better stop slashing SNAP because right now one quarter of my state lives in poverty! Peace, Light and Love.

My SNAP won't last a full month if I spend over $1 per meal - that's three meals a day, five monts with 30 days = $90.00 and the seven months with 31 days = $93.00...I get $105/month, slated to decrease. Every time I get a Social Security raise, my SNAP goes down by half that increase and my rent assistance goes down by the other half, which leaves me no better, but no worse - until my landlord makes his annual rent increase, which I have to pay, so I lose...and this doesn't take into account the cost of food going up.

I can not understand how some politicians think nothing of taking food out of the mouths of the poor and hungry. Most of them believe in God, but they sure aren't following his teaching. I don't know if this picture will appear, but I'll try to post it. Well the website address shows up. Check out the picture.

Thank you for the important infographic. I posted it recently from a e-mail, but I did so again because so many people have no idea how important SNAP is for families who live on low wages. (n, p, t)

Rent, utilities, grocery prices ll go up regularly. Yet SNAP benefits continue to go down and those who need them most suffer, ~ while many of our elected officials live in the lap of luxury. What's wrong with that picture? Bless you GGma Sheila.

sad that politicians would allow children to go hungry, wonder if they cut the free breakfast and lunch programs for low income children

The politicians do not care about the people who don't have what they have. The have never had to do without so they just don't know or care about the less unfortunates.

Spot on observation Carrie. I agree. The elected officials (particularly the pro-corporate elitist Republicans) are living in the lap of luxury while the rest of us are on our hands and knees struggling to survive.

People need all the help they can get in order to survive.
Republicans are disgusting.
