Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has withdrawn his support of a gay African-American judge from Miami who was poised to make the leap to the federal bench, and possibly savaged the nominee's professional reputation in the process.

And now we know who is spineless in Florida - and it's not the lobsters.

"With each pull of the trigger, Ana Maria must have labored under the constant fear that her death was imminent,” Judge Thomas said. And he wept. Miami Herald courts reporter David Ovalle was there as emotions engulfed the courtroom. Nothing about the judge’s demeanor struck Ovalle as inappropriate."

Well, I've gotta say, THAT is the kind of judge I want on the bench. The death penalty is NEVER cause for celebration, it is humanity at its ugliest, an eye for an eye, a death for a death perpetuates a cycle that never ends. Certainly remove such offenders from society permanently (and to those who say it is more expensive to keep someone in prison for life than to execute them, you are wrong, and have always been wrong, I did a research paper in a HIGH SCHOOL civics class in 1967 that found the costs were higher to execute because of appeals, etc., that was 1967, NOTHING has gotten cheaper about the appeals process since then - and besides I think life in prison without parole a harsher sentence than a quick exit from the world with no time to consider what you have done) but execution should carry the weight it obviously did for this judge who so openly empathized with the victim that it brought him to tears. I'm proud of him. That is the kind of man I want on the bench. Rubio is the kind of man who deserves no public voice at all and it is too bad he can't be sued for slander because that is what he is doing now.

Appeasing the far right or any other part of it is ridiculous since they are irrelevant and completely out of touch with the people, the real people (the 99% that is, and not the other rich, arrogant, elitists like themselves). If Rubio is that wishy washy then he really has no business being in a position of authority and especially not in the White House. Fingers crossed he doesn't try to run in 2016. It would be a waste of time.

P.S.

Not only a waste of time, but an insult to the intelligence of people that can see him for what he is and the party he represents and all their selfish, hateful platform.

Thanks Carrie.

It's amazing that someone whose ethnicity is a target of Republican bigotry would join in the bigotry, but nobody rational ever thought Republicans had a lick of decency.

Has he forgotten how many minority/homosexual voters live in Florida?

Another example of political expediency trumping decency and ethics!

You're right Robert O, Rubio has no place in the White House. He could not represent ALL the people --- he is far too partisan. No Republicanus/Teabagger has the ability to be POTUS.

Like how that rebranding and outreach beyond your old, white and dwindling base is working out for ya Rubio.
