Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) launched an old-fashioned talking filibuster Tuesday afternoon to try to slow debate over a short-term spending measure by speaking against the new federal health-care law "until I am no longer able to stand."

Maybe we should watch and see if he begins to strip, there is nothing this attention whore will not for the a few minutes of press. Is he sincere? Only about himself and hoping to use this as a launch pad for the presidency.
I'm already very bored with Ted Cruz.

He's now quoting from "Green Eggs and Ham" how pathetic is that. Maybe the good thing that can come of this is the republicans might finally dump the TP.

Thank you Carrie! I saw that troll today. Siberia is too good for him he needs to be shipped off to Mars in one of those rockets that only go one way! LOL

Green Eggs and Ham?! Are you kidding me?! Kit, I've always said that if we give them enough rope they will hang themselves. I'm just hoping that is happening right before our very eyes.

If Cruz wants to filibuster Obamacare, then he should stay on topic. How is quoting the bible, reading Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham have anything to do with a health care debate?? Oh, I get it, there is nothing to debate, so, yet again, he's wasting our time. Sigh....

"Until I am no longer able to stand"? Can we amputate him at the knee?

Ted Cruz is a moron. He is no more qualified to be a senator and he thinks he can run for president? Seriously? I have been researching him and you wouldn't believe some of the things he claims to be true. When they bring up the Bible, they make me sick. I believe somewhere in there, God asked us to take care and feed the poor. Guess they didn't find that page. The GOP working with the nut jobs in the Tea Party is political suicide. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Remember that when you vote for your congress person or senator in 2014. Do some research on the candidates...then make up your mind. An informed voter chooses wisely.

The contrast between his stupidbuster and Bernie Sanders' filibuster is pretty much a perfec example of the differences between left and right.

However I will give him props for doing a traditional filibuster rather than the usual Republican practice of telling Harry Reid "we're filibustering" and it being accepted. Not Reid's fault per se, it's the Senate rule. But Reid should be excoriated for not having ended the filibuster in January 2010.

The only issue Ted Cruz is interested in is the politcial advancement of Ted Cruz

Kit, after reading your catty comments (;-)) I was reminded of another infamous filibuster delivered by one man. Think back and you'll know the man and party affiliation or google it. That fellow, and I'll spare the many terms that would apply to him, read more crap into the Congressional record than Cruz will ever say. When he starts reading the encycolopedia or Webster's unabridged, then we worry.

I assume you're thinking of the despicable Strom Thurmond? Why is it when conservatives filibuster it's to prevent good things and when liberals filibuster it's to prevent bad stuff?

If I take your meaning John G, yes, when Thurmond mounted the longest filibuster in history he was a Democrat, or more properly, a Dixiecrat which was a Republican in sheep's clothing.

This village idiot thinks he's promoting his own career when in fact, he is merely digging himself a hole. Even some of the GOP are against him.

"“We’re in the minority, we have to find a way of standing up for our principles without immolating ourselves in front of everybody, in a way when we don’t have the votes to do it," he [Sen Orrin Hatch, (R-Utah)] said."

Self immolation sounds like a plan for the obstructionist Republicanus/Teabaggers.

The Republicanus/Teabaggers have been saying that Mr Obama and the Democrats are the ones threatening to shut down the government, when in actual fact it is the Republicanus/Teabaggers who are threatening to shut down the government over funding for the ACA. Mr Obama is refusing to negotiate with "terrorists" which is just what the Republicanus/Teabaggers have become when they don't get their way.

The popular vote in the House had Democrats ahead by over 1.5 million votes, but of course the actual results reflect the GOP gerrymandering of districts which resulted in a Republicanus/Teabagger majority. Of course then there are the lies about the ACA that Republicanus/Teabaggers keep spewing trying to leave the electorate confused. There is no honour in the Republicanus/Teabagger party. Thieves and whores all.

So, let me guess, Lynn, you have a mild disagreement with them? 8^)

Thanks Carrie. I saw some of this late last night. His faux filibuster was almost entirely devoid of facts...and chock full of lies (like the implication that the ACA give IRS agents power to decide whether loved ones will live or die), which along with trying to kill government no matter who is hurt by it, seems to be a staple of the Teabagger playbook. The only thing Sen Cruz accomplished, other than the obvious waste of time and resources, is to bring more light to the fact that he is clearly his greatest admirer. Kit...I absolutely agree with your comments. Kitties always say the smartest things! Thanks to Lynn for being so enlightened and knowledgeable. It's too bad more Americans aren't as learned.

@ Robert K --- You could say that! I also have a `mild disagreement`with the Rt disHonourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada who is a Baby Bush wannabe!

@ Thomas --- Thanks Thomas. I learn a lot from people like you, TomCat, Kit B, Carrie, JL a etc too many to name.

I am truly amazed at the level of political depravity of the Republicanus/Teabaggers. They care nothing for the American people that don`t have a big income and networth. They only care for their 1% elite and corporations --- WHO ARE NOT PEOPLE! As I said, theives and whores all.

Amazing, how can the American system of government permit a tiny minority to get so close to shutting down the functioning of the federal government. Of course, if they do...and even if not because the entire charade makes the tea baggers and republi-can'ts look so foolish. Teabags...may well end any hopes of republi-can'ts being elected in the future.

It's time to give the tea baggers some catnip tea bags as catnip soothes and puts people to sleep. Teabaggers need to take a nap from the political scene permanently.

I agree Lynn, that Harper is a teabagger special, he is on his way out in the next election. I hear that Ted Cruz is in favour of the XL pipeline so he and Harper are like peas in a pod. Time to shell them and chuck them.
