From the first models who strode out to thumping drumbeats, the Rick Owens spring 2014 presentation projected an energy not typical on a Paris runway, or any other in recent memory.

Rick Owens, just what is it you are trying to portray???? This presentation looked like a group of mad people in a dark back alley. Yvette, I don't understand why you say "Great" with a smiley face???

Thanks Carrie.

I think it's wonderfully powerful ~ portraying strong women who are not clothes hanger models!

Strong women do not have to be ugly, or make themselves be ugly, mean, nasty, etc. Think Princess Di, Mother Teresa, Queen Elizabeth I & II, Hilary Clinton, Maya Angelou, and so very many more, in so many walks of life. One doesn't have to be a clothes horse to be weak. You may not agree with the politics, but you can not say these women aren't strong.

This presentation went overboard. I wouldn't think any of these young women were necessarily strong just because they wore some of the ugliest crap I've ever seen and their expressions matched. I wouldn't want to meet any of them, talk to any of them - all just because of the nastiness shown. Negative power and vibes.

Some of the clothes were pretty cool. The show of strength was very powerful. I personally think the facial expressions of "conventional" models are at least equally off-putting! If this is the only runway slideshow you have ever looked at, try a couple of others. Fashion is a contemptuous attitude, "we are better than you" industry. It would be really cool if this show could make some kind of a dent, almost any kind of a dent, in that facade. Back to the clothes for a second - I have yet to see a collection of which I would wear more than one or two at the most of the clothes, and I have seen a lot of collections over the years (not in person - I wish!)

I agree Joanne. Conventional models look haughty and unapproachable. These women didn't look threatening to me ~ rather they looked strong and determined. Most clothes at these "fashion shows" definitely aren't designed for everyday wear or everyday women.

From one extreme to the other! Surely you don't have to look angry and mean to be unconventional? The whole thing was ugly and unattractive - clothes and models.
