If Wulf Beleites is to be believed, there is a growing rift in Germany. Not between women and men, or the east and west, but much deeper than that. It's the divide between dog lovers and dog haters, he says.

This has nothing to do with Germany but the author Benjamin Schulz.

'You Can Make Money with Every Crazy Idea' and this guy is determined to make a success out of this magazine. I am just now thinking that maybe this may be a satire??? Otherwise he is nuts!
Thank you Carrie.

Sounds to me as though the guy is simply trying to make money. He's even looking for investors! If he's so upset about the "piles of poop" left in "school yards, pedestrian areas, and playgrounds, he'd be on a campaign against irresponsible dog owners. Unfortunately, dogs don't use toilets and haven't learned to clean up after themselves.

Mr. Beleites states: "I am not a dog lover, I am not a dog hater." That's probably true. It's more likely that he's someone who wants to make some money by stirring up some controversy.

As he says, one can make money if one identifies a group of people whose ideas are not catered for.
Wonder whether the magazine will be successful?

Whoever falls into this is a total moron, don't they read the papers or watch the news on t.v. about animals helping people do everyday tasks, sniffing out cancer cells in people and there for saving peoples live's, etc!? What planet are they living on!?

He sounds like a real loony tune to me. Germany as well as everywhere else in the world, has its dog haters, but to put out a magazine that literally tells you it is ok to hate dogs, which it is, and how to rid the world of them? He is loony and should be careful when he leaves his house, especially with the kids. Dog lovers show their annoyance completely, but quietly. No violence needed.

Okay, this idiot has gone too far, especially with the overwhelming popularity of Germany with dogs. I guess he just wants to make money. Maybe he'd like to donate some of his future riches to some shelters. As far as the dog poop, he might make a lot more money by having dog poop bags at every intersection.

I have a dog and believe he has a point in the paragraph "Today, what annoys him is piles of dog poop in school yards, pedestrian areas, and playgrounds. The magazine is a manifest against the absurd increase in the anthropomorphism of dogs, according to Beleites. But he does not see himself as a fanatic. "I would always announce my aversion to dogs with a wink and a nod," he says."

While this clown sounds like a typical money-grubbing exploiter of humanity, Germany has a relatively recent history of nurturing antipathy, outright hatred and acting on both. It concerns me that some equally idiotic fool regard him...and his magazine as license to harm a dog. When that occurs, and it certainly seems likely, I hope there is prosecution for inciting the crime. Encouraging that type of behavior is beyond dangerous.

Postscript to my initial comment: every German I know personally/professionally, and there are more than a few, has one or more dogs so I can't characterize this is a German issue, rather the typical targeting of a minority group to make money. It is, that notwithstanding, dangerous. If he has a problem people not cleaning up after their dogs, launch a campaign to enforce the scoop laws. There are lovely parks in Munich and Berlin but I have never noticed an excessive problem when I've been there. Better to take constructive action than to exploit, whine and possibly instigate violence against dogs and do owners.

From article: Dogs smell, make noise and mess, and are potentially dangerous, say opponents.

Now from me: I have smelled TONS of nasty smelling people that in my opinion, smell worse than any dog I've ever smelled! What, people can't be loud & make messes? How many times have any of you reading this walked into a public restroom with feces everywhere for example? Dogs are potentially dangerous? Look at how dangerous alot of people are! Humans are the most deadly!

That last line says it all to me:
"Beleites likes a basic formula: It's possible to make money out of shit if you use it well."

Let's hope he did not raise enough to get this stupid magazine going!
