We parents get lots of advice. Lots. But instead of the experts telling us what we should do, perhaps it's time they tell us to just stop it. So here we have it: Six things parents need to stop doing right now.

Advice to set good example, take time to solve problems and set routines. Isn't it wonderful when we are relaxed and the best thing in the world is to play with our child (whether it's dolls/Legos/sandbox/craft/science)?

Thanks Carrie for the link to the article by Ms. Joyce. I don't have children but I am sharing this with my brother. Read and noted.

As an outsider, having no children, a lot of this sounds more like giving up parenting and focusing on either being a friend or co-worker. At some point laying down the law is going to be required and allowing children's reactions to stop this is not parenting. Rules and expectations with consequences, both positive and negative, are the basis of civilized behavior. I can not help but wonder if this Laissez-faire parenting is not the cause of the children that I am forced to endure in public that are more spoiled manner-less barbarians than the children of a civilized society.
