"Welcome to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," our host beamed. The plane had barely landed, and the propaganda had already started. I was officially part of the first tourist delegation to ever visit North Korea for New Year's.

Has anyone noticed that all totalitarian governments name thier country as a Democratic Republic when it's clearly not. The communists are particularly adept at corrupting the English language by this deception.Don't they know that they are not fooling anyone by this trickery except them selves.

The only connection I can make between "North "Korea" and "happy" is that I'm happy I don't live there. Kim Jong-un, despite his youth and inexperience in despotic lunacy, is already beginning to make Pol Pot look like a humanitarian. As for the "amazing" part, well, any government that thinks that an endorsement from Rodman is a good thing is pretty amazing.

The leaders are living a life of luxury, whilst the ordinary people are struggling to survive in a state of terror and desperate poverty...
Poor people. I hope they will be free some day.

North Korea, surely a place I would never want to visit. Everything is good there, no problems, it is the rest of the world that has problems. They are trying so hard to convince that everything is good and better there, it makes me want to roll on the ground laughing, but thinking of all the people suffering makes me stop.
Thanks Carrie.
