Pope Francis made a rare linguistic error during his weekly blessing on Sunday, transforming a harmless Italian word into one of the strongest swearwords in the dictionary.

That was definitely an oops moment to remember, but he's only human and anybody can mistake but some people won't see the humor in it obviously. Thanks Carrie!

Come on he is a Septagenarian who has to wear a frock hanging around with a bunch of elderly men who dress like something out of a transvestite's nightmare. So who could blame him for firing off an explictive and face it swearing is good you, firing off a few naughty words is fun and if the Pope can't fire off the odd "Cazzo" once in a while then things would get quite boring very quickly. Also face it the previous Pope was not a particularly charismatic person when he was more inclined to burn a few heretics than chance a smile.

Goodness knows that with the Catholic Church plenty has been 'lost in translation' over the centuries ...

Oops! Made me laugh, thanks Carrie! ;) Rebecca G., I'm Catholic too- still practising- and Pope Francis is anything but a 'pompous idiot'. He is a much needed breath of fresh air for our Church. Or rather, in this case, my church. It seems you've become lapsed. That's fine, each to their own. Just don't call an intelligent, caring and progressive man a pompous idiot!

Also, thanks Natasha. Couldn't have put it better myself. The man is human! And a rare decent human for that matter.

Human after all.

But we all knew he was human, like all popes in fact.

No, Pope Francis is certainly not a "pompous idiot". He is a humble caring man loved by many for his true humanity.

I am one of the very LAST people on Earth likely to be either fan or foe of the Pope (or any other religious leader, for that matter) But THIS pope has caught my eye, and then my heart several times already - - -
As far as verbal twist-ups - Hey, sometimes I get my tang so tungled I can't even snow why I'm
crying to neigh - - -
(One friend would SWEAR I just wrote something obscene "It HAS to be - just LISTEN to it!")

AND I'm not either as old as he is, nor anywhere NEAR as stressed -

WAY beyond whether he is HUMAN (and he clearly is) the BIG thing is, he's HUMANE - and THAT is a treasure

Finally a real human being is Pope. I think Pope Francis is the most caring, humble man I have seen as Pope for many years.
Thanks Carrie.
