What really upset me was when you stated, "Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802." Let's get the obvious stupidity out of the way first.

Is this man serious? There aren't any words to describe how racist, unintelligent just plain ignorant his words are

A lot of structures, INCLUDING the White House, were built using Slave Labour.

Great open letter. I loved the succinct and obvious fact: You don't hire slaves.

Ha ha! Great story. A lot of people don't realize that slaves a) lived in deplorable conditions and b) were fed meals that were, at best, barely adequate. They were indeed chattel, property, no better than cattle. Sadly, today the evil of slavery persists.

He is proven wrong on this point, by personal letters, diaries of those present, such as my ancestor, Abigail Adams. When one writes a book based on historical fact---be certain that each statement has hard evidence to back it up. Thanks Carrie.

Thanks, Carrie, for an excellent article that put O'Reilly and his racist remarks in their place: at the bottom of the cesspool.
