I think pressure needs to be brought to bare against the FDA to disclose the brand names. Acetominophen is POISON to a dog or cat, and I don't give a BLANK what percentage was found. HOW did acetominophen of all things end up in PET food?!?! It really makes me wonder. Really.

If the FDA can not regulate what is in pet food then new laws or regulations need to be put in place. I can not go through life wondering is this the day the food I feed my dogs kills them. This is completely unacceptable and terrifying. When will this end?!?

I'm not sure how to transition my dogs to a raw meat diet. I want to make sure that they are getting the right balance of nutrients, and the right amount of food. I understand that dogs that eat raw food have to eat considerably more. But THIS terrifies me. I feel like I am playing Russian Roulette every time I buy their food. Doesn't matter how 'healthy' the label claims the food to be. I was floored by the sheer number of "premium" pet foods that ended up on the Do Not Buy list. I'm with you Elizabeth. I think that laws need to be written on the FEDERAL level that spell out clear cut quality control guidelines. And I think that when something like this happens, people SHOULD be able to sue for more than the cost of the animal. My dogs are solid members of my family. I am not some litigious nut, but I really believe that these companies need to be held accountable for this. People are spending THOUSANDS trying to save the lives of their pets. This makes me SOOOO angry!!!

I guess there is no commercial pet food that we animal lovers can completely trust. I have always fed my cats holistic or ultra premium foods, but I'm not sure about those anymore. This latest scare is the last straw. Even in small amounts, acetaminophen, or Tylenol, can be deadly to cats. I wonder why the brand was not identified. Each day that it is on the market and ingested by animals there may be more diet-induced injury or death. This whole tainted pet food mess is simply not acceptable.

Their needs to be FDA on all of the shipments received into the USA ports. The food needs to be regulated from the ports. All food the is shipped tot he USA should have the Country and a batch number on it.

"It is not clear, however, whether the agency tested the type of food in which ExperTox said it found the highest level of acetaminophen. That sample had been submitted by the manufacturer, according to Coneley."

Every food sold in this country should have labels indicating where it came from and how it was processed. I remember when they gave us food containing sawdust that was labeled as added fiber.
