Al Qaeda's latest video called for just such "lone wolf" attacks, and should serve as a clear call to close the loopholes in our nation's gun laws that let terrorists and other dangerous people get their hands on guns.

i just watched a movie called Lord of War starring Nicholis Cage. It was chilling. He was just doing the good-old capitalist thing, selling arms to whoever was buying and living a good life for himself like any good salesman would. After all, he said, he is not telling them to pull the trigger.

Every loophole must be closed. Guns and dinosaurs, they belong in the same category, extinct.

"When we got organized as a country, [and] wrote a fairly radical Constitution, with a radical Bill of Rights, giving radical amounts of freedom to Americans, it was assumed that Americans who had that freedom would use it responsibly .... When personal freedom is being abused, you have to move to limit it."
~ Bill Clinton ~

"I don't care if you want to hunt, I don't care if you think it's your right. I say 'Sorry.' it's 1999. We have had enough as a nation. You are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun I think you should go to prison."
~ Rosie O'Donnell ~
(Same time period her bodyguard applied for a gun permit.)

"Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed."
~ HCI President Sarah Brady to Senator Howard Metzenbaum ~
The National Educator, January 1994, p.3

"Those who rely on statistics from groups like Brady, Violence Policy Center or Legal Community Against Violence are often ashamed when they are called out on their sources"
~ Ken Hanson ~
Gun rights attorney

I think guns can be a beautiful thing and historic as well. I want reason. NO one needs an AK47 to hunt deer. NO one needs to convert a semi automatic gun to a full automatic and claim they have to have it.

I think a full background check is reasonable. I think severe restrictions on certain types of weapons is reasonable and if I hear one more time that when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns I'm seriously going to throw up.

They're outlaws! If they were law abiding they wouldn't break the law with guns now would they?

Nancy, thanks for your article.
However Al Qaeda is - like Wikileaks just an other CIA plot (a double bluff)
Whereas Wikileaks is used to track it's visitors and to enable shadow government to shut down internet, Al Qaeda is trained, steered and financed by CIA (financed by US taxpayers money) to keep up the real terrorists endless wars all over the planet for "our security" for the "war on terror".

How can you ever have a peaceful country where guns are allowed? It just doesn't happen! I suppose that if Terrorists couldn't get hold of guns, they would just make more bombs. They are a satanic evil that have no social conscience and no normal human feelings.. If terrorist can't get guns from ONE country, they always seem to find some other country that will supply them In a perfect world, we would make ALL countries gun free. until then, don't hold your breath that things will change.

Blaming the terrorists for having weapons is nonsense.

As long as certain people can take advantage of wars, terrorists will be equiped with weapons. Petitions will not impress terrorists or the war industry that needs wars to produce and sell weapons. Look at these weapons and you know where they com from. It is not the terrorists who produce those weapons. So who is it? It is those countries that support wars and terrorists hoping that the fighting and killing goes on and on.

Therefore blaming the terrorists for having weapons is nonsense.

Is it the gun dealers or the fact that person to person sales. I have no problems with guns but do believe they should be regulated more than they are. All sales should have to be through an official dealer.

Just saw this on Lawrence O'donnell's The Last Word program. Very chilling video, and Mayor Bloomberg, the guest speaker, gave very compelling reasons to increase regulations to stop these terrorists. I hope the NRA is paying attention, and willingly helps with any needed regulation (but I doubt it.).

Remember that America sold guns to Hitler's Germany and they were used to kill American soldiers and they the CIA gave the guns to the Taliban to fight the Russians..... Arms dealers make obscene amounts of money and are not going to give that up for anyone. Money means that they can buy government support.......

Build some large d_ _ _ islands* -- round-up Home-grown Terrorists Types & Global Counterparts. They can take the weapons they "sell each other"--have mammoth gun sales--no license needed--and just shoot the s_ _ _ out whenever they want. Then rest of us won't get caught in the crossfire. (Suggest vegetarian diets to tone down some of that zesty-testy and not involve other animals/wildlife--build islands using best practice environmental standards.) In meantime better "smart" regs in place.

Please tell me how this arrangement will be carried out?
These people do not normally go down to the local gunshop and place an order.
They get them the same way criminals , terroristss, and freedom fighters get them. The last two can sometimes be confused, depending upon which side of the fence you are standing.
It would appear that all weapons are relatively easy to get, once you have the money to pay for them.
Gun traders, small and large, do not have much of a moral compass to get confused over, just a bottom line; in other words, it's just business.

Edward, there are gun shows, gun shops, guns for sale, gun trade shows...the NRA has not cracked down on ID or background checks in most? states...If you haven't heard of Mayors Against Guns, I suggest you check it out. I'm sure that they have more experience with the how and why than any of us could ,(or want), to fathom.

I am all for people owning guns, but the laws are WAY too lax. In Texas, you don't even have to register your guns if they aren't hand guns!! Anyone can walk in a store and buy a rifle or shotgun with no background check or anything. Insane! Also, it should be a requirement to take a gun safety course before buying any firearm. Why these aren't laws, I have no idea. Signed and noted.

THERE IS NO LOOP HOLE IN THE NATION"S GUN LAWS. That is just a bit of anti-gun false propaganda.
If you buy a gun from a dealer at a gun show or anywhere else they must submit you to the NICS, the FBI's National Instant Check System, NO MATTER WHERE THE SALE TAKES PLACE.
A private individual can sell you one of their guns IF AND ONLY IF they are not "engaged in the gun business." If the BTAF determines an individual seller IS engaged in the gun business (ie regularly for profit oe selling multiple guns) they MUST obtain a FFL (Federal Firearms License) and they MUST submit the purchaser to the NICS. PERIOD.
Now you may ask why an individual who is not a gun dealer doesn't submit his purchaser? The reason is HE CAN'T because he doesn't have an FFL which is required (the way it was set up by the Clinton Admin) in order to submit to the NICS.
Nancy the NRA does not have one freakin thing to do with background checks. The FBI maintains the NICS.
Mayors Against Guns is a useless group organized by a few mayors (namely Bloomberg) who are in cities with the MOST RESTRICTIVE gun laws in the country yet the highest crime rates and need scapegoats for their ineffective policies. You will invariably find that in areas with high legal gun ownership rates there is a corresponding low level of violent crime.
Now is anyone really stupid enough to believe that terrorists can't get guns once we outlaw them? Law abiding people will not be able to get one to defend themselves possibly against said terrorists, which would suit those terrorists just fine.

Jennifer I do not know where the heck you get your information, but you DO have to submit to a NICS background check to buy a gun from a store in Texas. That is the law.
In order to carry a concealed firearm in Texas, like most states, you must submit to and pass a background check, you must pass a Texas Department of Public Safety approved course that involves 15 hours of instruction plus proficiency on the firing range, and be fingerprinted and approved by the local sheriff's department.

The ability to buy a gun, especially in the south has always been a national embarrassment. There needs to be a federal law curtailing the lax ability to buy guns.
Don't give me any garbage about the 4th Amendment that gives the right of Americans to carry guns. This was created during times of war. No where is it stated we are allowed to sell weapons to terrorist organizations, or for that matter to 16 year olds who have a driver's license.

"Don't give me any garbage about the 4th Amendment that gives the right of Americans to carry guns"
It would be the 2nd Amendment. And if that one is garbage I suppose the others are too?
"This was created during times of war" The Constitution was ratified in 1788, the Revolutionary War ended in 1783.
"The ability to buy a gun, especially in the south has always been a national embarrassment." I have bought many guns (currently own around 30) and have never been the least bit embarrassed by it. Currently deciding between a Glock 23 and a Sig 220 for a new carry gun and still not at all embarrassed. The police I work with highly recommend the Glock (most carry those - they don't seem embarrassed either), but the Sig is a sweet shooting gun.
