The Nobel Peace Prize is supposed to go to "the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Three members of Parliament in Iceland have nominated Bradley Manning and laid out the case:

"Manning is a soldier in the United States army who stands accused of releasing hundreds of thousands of documents to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. The leaked documents pointed to a long history of corruption, war crimes, and imperialism by the United States government in international dealings. These revelations have fueled democratic uprising around the world, including a democratic revolution in Tunisia. According to journalists, his alleged actions helped motivate the democratic Arab Spring movements, shed light on secret corporate influence on our foreign policies, and most recently contributed to the Obama Administration agreeing to withdraw all U.S.troops from the occupation in Iraq."

Few have done more. A number of previous peace laureates have done far less.

Gladly signed. It says it all for me, a lot better than our so called Peace Prize President.

IF the N.Prize would be awarded by "the 99%", Bradley would probably have gotten it already or be my top favorite for the next one.
Unfortunately this is not the case ...

The Peace Prize for Bradley Manning, I said this about two years ago. And don't forget Julian Assange, he too is worthy of the Peace Prize. And not incarceration for who knows how long.

Noted, tweeted, signed, tweeted, and commented. To those in other countries and to many US citizens, he is a hero. He certainly did make a difference.

We should try to rescind the inappropriate awards to louts like Komrad Klinton or Borkup Obummer and give them to meaningful contributors towards keeping the peace like Assange and Manning.

The warriors for war want to make a scapegoat of Bradley Manning - a warrior for peace. We need more Bradley Mannings and less paranoid policy makers in the US.

Thanks Nancy, signed with pleasure...

Some people deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, Bradley does, some don't...Obama got one just before escalating the war/s, promising to close Guantanamo bay but not doing so etc. ...So Bradley is a much more deserving candidate.

Perhaps, one day he will face a judge and jury for letting the public know the truth about the inner workings of their government, but I doubt it... Perhaps in his final days of indefinite detention, without trial or conviction, the NPP would bring a smile to his face?

Shouldn't we be concentrating on getting him out of jail?

I consider Manning as a very brave man and absolutely an American hero, certainly in no way a traitor. I would reserve tha title of traitor for the people in the Pentagon who are keeping him in their prison. They are contributing towards most people in the world regarding US as having lost all credibility as a democratic country.
