Yes, a campaign, but more so,an FYI on how people, not war mongers, are unifying to relay an important message. On the 11th anniversary of 9/11, as I listen to the names of the remembered read at the WTC Memorial, let's promote peace. If not us, then who?

Very cool! Noted. Is it really so hard for all of us to stand up for peace? When will our warmongering governments start listening to the people?

OK, this is a quote, but from a man who fought wars when needed and who knew the difference between needed and unnecessary:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children....under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." Dwight D. Eisenhower

Than you for this article. We are all tired of wars, they only accomplish hatred.

Is good to see people doing something to prevent wars. All over this world people need to stand up to wars that do not benefit the common people but only serve "some"....be it for profit, political goals, or land, which is usually for profit.

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor. It emboldens the blood just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fevered pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the Rights of the citizenry. Rather the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by Patriotism will offer up all of their Rights unto their leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."
-Julius Caesar on Patriotism

"If Not Us? Who?"
If Not Now? When?
We've tried war for decades,
why not give peace a chance.
What A Concept!

Thank you for the beautiful quote, Dandelion.
That quote is so true--if you listen to the war-monger waxing eloquently on the "bravery and heroism" of "dying for your cause", it might be a bit too easy to actually believe their lies--but lies they are!
The normal working-class people have no need or cause to be invading a foreign country, to kill other normal working-class people--we have no reason to be fighting wars.
If the politicians want war, they can fight it themselves--which should put an end to war, because how many politicians and presidential-candidates have you seen rushing to the "front-line"?
Reminds me of an old song by Peter, Paul and Mary--"Where Have All The Flowers Gone"--a good song from the 60's.
Thank you for an excellent, and timely, post.

indeed the time has come for PEACE. not more of this crap all based on lies. Do they really think we've forgotten the lies told prior to Iraq? Do you think we've forgotten that there were no babies killed in the hospital, that those first targets were retreating, that the UN had given Saddam and Iraq permission to sort out their feud with Kuwait, and that NATO then went in when no blood had been spilled? Do they truly think we'll forget? Do they truly think we don't know what the CIA does so openly when they're not in the US (but oh, as long as it's not on TV then it MUST be secret...)?

No more pre-meditated war for the sake of nothing more than building the wealth and power and control of resources for a select few.

Power, control, wealth, religion, natural resources - all reasons "to go to war". It's time the ordinary man/woman in the street stood up and shouted "not on my behalf!"

I don't think there ever was a time when there was Peace on Earth, nor, will there ever be! It is not the people! That is shown here on Care2. Never did I ever think, that I would be making friends from all over the World. What we all share is the protection of the Environment, Animal Abuse and Humanity, something that seems to elude our ruling Parties. What unites them, is "Greed!"

People all over the world are sick and tired of war, killings, maiming and so on...

No More War. Give Peace A Chance.

We need peace. We also need the folks of Egypt and Libya,just to name two countries, to realize they need peace, too.

Having served from 1963 to 1969 I became vehemantly anti-war in my life. War is not a video game, it is horrible...!!!

War, not only hurts the warriors involved, it can scar their families for generations.

"Thou Shalt Not Kill!
Murder is a Crime;
War is Murder;
War is a Crime!"
(Aster C. Linn).

No one is ready (or wants) to die in any war. What about the innocent and helpless children, infants (and animals)? Do NOT personally (harm or) kill anyone or anything, and point-blank refuse to (harm or) kill anyone or anything on anyone else's behalf either! Let the warmongers; killers and murderers of innocent people (children, infants and animals) go to hell without you!

The peace-loving, law-abiding "children of the Universe" have had more than enough of it!

Stop

We don't have the money for someone elses war.

If your own children are hungry, don't take the groceries to the neighbors.

very good Nancy- I don't believe in wars- we live in an age when they can be avoided, provided we stand by our belief- that peace is the only way we will solve our problems
