Good on Nigeria. Hopefully they will win and make it clear to Big Oil that they can no longer Rape our Planet. Hopefully whatever monies they win will be distributed fairly.

To all Members of the Nigerian National Assembly:
As global citizens, we urge you to enforce the $5 billion fine against Shell to compensate the people affected by the 2011 Bonga oil spill. We call on you to end oil impunity by endorsing the NOSDRA Amendment Bill that holds polluters accountable with clear penalties, and support a Petroleum Industry Bill with strong transparency, accountability and environmental provisions to reform Nigeria’s oil sector.

Lots of luck. I wonder if the Nigerian government will be able to collect. My guess is that it will be Shell Oils cost of doing business. After Shell pays the fine, they will probably consider it a license to continue doing things the way that they always have.

I hope Shell has to pay dearly, as they have mistreated these people for far too long and to blind eyes.
The country has to have a law that there is transparency, accountability, and environmental provisions to
reform Nigeria's oil sector, with huge fines as penalties every time caught.
