I hate to put a "damper" on the Anniversary of National Geographic but...

Did you know that Rupert Murdoch, owner of Faux Noise aka Fox News, is also the owner of National Geographic...

Ty, Nancy.

My brother has had a subscription for decades - I always take it when he's done. It's still a fascinating magazine.

M dad started subscribing to NG when I was born, so I always read it growng up.
In '85 hen theyoved to TX he gave every single one - he has saved them religously
I found them a home at the local elementary hindsight I almost wish I'd kept them, but space would never allow.
He continued getting them until his death in 2007, and my sister was in charge of those

I still go to their website whe I' looking for a fantastic photo for something, and I feel sorry for all the generations that will not have this publication to learn from and marvel over, just as I felt about LIFE when it stopped regular publication
Thanks so much for this story Nancy..shared ;-)

I have to admit to a certain fascination with the issues that chronicled primitive cultural practices and attire. :O)

You bet Terry, it was primitive cultural that caught your eye and not the bare breasts! I used to let the kids in my class begin that *snickering* that all boys and girls in our culture do when confronted with nudity, Then I would address it directly, that always seems to surprise them.

So disappointed ! Jim is correct!

News Corp owns 67% of National Geographic Channel. Which explains why Nat Geo is suddenly looking like the once-great History Channel.

Thanks to them I learn about the destruction of gold mining and the horrible tragedies behind diamonds, after reading many years ago both stories I never buy any gold and would never buy diamonds. They not only show magnificent photos but educate as well.
