Probably the most significant paragraph was the last. These are old technology and we know they are all vulnerable to failures, many built on fault lines. Perhaps the House and Senate need to watch one or two of many very good documentaries about Chernobyl, to remind them of the real dangers. It seems that the accident, or lack of preparedness at Fukushima, was not enough.

You cannot currently send a star to Kit because you have done so within the last week (it does seem a very long week!). I quite agree - and it is worrying that the Repuglicons are again ready to sacrifice others welfare - and possibly their lives in such a way. I long for the day when people will live with the consequences of what they say - and those who try and prevent safety measures at aging nuclear plants have to live next door to them for every minute of their lives - it might make them reflect more!

What is wrong with the house g o p people. Just because the costs of building containment modifications may cost several million dollars, it is certainly a lot cheaper than having one or more of those aging nuclear plants go "Fukushima" style explosion. The costs of a reactor going bad and the damage it would cause: costs billions of dollars in land waste of radioactivity, people's health for generations and, heaven forbid, to the insurance industry.

No further studies are needed. Look at Chernobyl and of course, Fukushima.

Start building the containments or shut down the aging 31 GE nuclear plants now before an "accident" occurs.

Ty, Nancy.

Would they rather have us all zapped by radiation? Hmm...don't answer that.... They are being penny smart and pound foolish...
