He released evidence of crimes, as anyone able to do should do. Manning did so out of an actual belief in democracy (as distinct from "democracy" as a justification for bombings).

Thanks Nancy -- again I've felt rather lonely on this subject - this guy is the "Woodward" of his generation - but look at what he's faced! I want to appeal to Obama to have him released and pardoned! Signed another yesterrday -- he's a hero, not a traitor!

I gladly signed and commented. Courages young man that should be rewarded not punished. Our society seems to have everything upside down today, rewarding the crooks and placing people like Bradley Manning behind bars.

My heart goes out to Bradley Manning. He is being used as a scape goat in order to set an example.

Thanks Nancy for posting the link to the Thank You note. Signed and post noted. Bradley should have been given a medal not a court martial for his heroic action.

This is just plain retarded. manning is guilty and deserves punishment. he was sworn to duty and betrayed his country.. No good comes from a traitor. HIS NAIVE AND FOOLISHNESS WAS A DANGER TO our interests.

To your interests? Exposing the evil interests your country gets up to is no moral crime. If the US governement was ethical in the first place, there wouldn't be this problem.

Manning is a traitor to his country and its people and should be dealt with as such by a firing squad.
A military man or woman's job is to obey orders, keep the nations classified information secure and do his or her duty in fighting the nations enemies whether he/she agrees or disagrees with his superiors ideals and views. Anyone who is not happy to do so should not join the military.

Thanks, Nancy. When I read his statement to the judge my heart goes out to him. I believe I would have done the same as he did. He is not a traitor as I see it. He is involved in telling truth to power and letting the people know what is really going on. Times are tough and call for unusual actions to preserve freedom.
I agree with Brenden: if the government was ethical in the first place this wouldn't have happened.
