Toms River's Ortley Beach boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, which was bolstered by climate change. Other towns' use of tropical hardwoods over the last three decades has helped change the climate. Now Toms River wants to add to that equation...

There are sustainable, recycled composite substitutes for the vanishing rain forest lumber. They have been proven very durable and cheaper by far than the real thing. If I would need to choose between the real thing and a recycled composite lumber, my money would go to the recycled lumber.

As a resident of PA who grew up going to the Jersey shore for every childhood vacation, I love the boardwalk and want to see it rebuilt - but not at the expense of destroying the Amazon Rainforests! I have signed, noted, and placed this comment on the petition. Thanks!
