The bill, which would allow farmers to grow industrial hemp in the state as soon as federal law allows it, has already cleared the assembly committee process and we expect a a full vote in that chamber if we can get the bill moving in the Senate.

Signed and Shared - (donation made) - Thanks Nancy, it's great to see you back.

We've passed major marijuana reform, legalizing in Washington and Colorado and now Portland, Maine! But our fight is far from over.
We must protect these gains from inevitable federal pushback, and continue to work to end prohibition in the countless other states primed for reform.
In 2014 we will continue the fight to reschedule marijuana on the federal level, protect patients and caregivers in medical marijuana states and support legalization ballot initiatives like those in Washington and Colorado.

Although I am firmly in favor of legalization, in good conscience, I can't support another industrial mono-cultural crop. Especially knowing that the next step would be GMO hemp.

Thinking the same thing as Terry...wouldn't Monsanto and Friends love to make GMO pot...Bet they've already done preliminaries to see if would be profitable enough.

People will do anything, risk anything to escape reality.

Can't blame them.

Legalized hemp is of little importance and scarce threat.

NO, I did not sign.

Of course GMOs are in the hemp. They travel by winds, by water, by earth might destroy them. I did
lengthy research on GMOs. My conclusion: You eat, you get GMOs. Even our veggie burgers have GMOs.
The animals are full of GMOs and so is their milk.

Those scientist better get busy finding a way our organs can survive GMOs.

I think legalized hemp should come under Federal law, so that every state would have the same regulations.

Other states have already done similar--only argument in CA was that law enforcement didn't know enough about plants to distinguish hemp from marijuana (pretty easy actually)

Here in Europe, it has been legal since 2009 to grow hemp
An excellent plant to grow for its fiber and energy

Thank you for such an important petition! Hemp is a far more environmentally conscious source for paper, clothing, and numerous products. (s, n, p, t)

Thanx Brynna! Hemp is far more than a source for medical or non med marijuana! It's growth was literally halted so there'd be no competition (for corporations) with this easily grown, inexpensive fiber...
