Boycott Tourism to the Andaman Islands ACTION

World  (tags: humanrights, Jarawa Tribe, indigenous rights, Andaman Islands )

Every day hundreds of tourists travel along the Andaman Trunk road in the hope of 'spotting' members of the Jarawa tribe - treating the Jarawa like animals in a safari park.

Why are aboriginal people being put on display like animals at the zoo? This is so wrong. We should not support this greed-driven enterprise.

Gladly signed and noted.

Action ludicrous and a complete lack of compassion towards these people. Absolutely unacceptable. Thanks Nancy for sharing.

While moving from Maine to Hawaii, we bought a 27 foot motor home and toured the US. In the Four Corners area the Navaho set up a mock Indian village. This was to get the tourists to come in and spend our money. They were doing what this petition is against. The desire for the "civilized" peoples to see what was lost do to our blind belief that our way was better. Coming in to "see" the Natives is our way of wishing we had not done this to a NOBLE peoples. At least, that was how I was looking at it. I wanted my sons to know that there were other ways of living with the earth not against it.
