The percentage of poor Americans who are living in severe poverty has reached a 32-year high as the gulf between the nation's "haves" and "have-nots" continues to widen. Nearly 16 million Americans are living in deep or severe poverty.

And I'm living proof of this! Always was the "middle class" and had money to spare. In the past few years, my luck sunk and don't know if I'll see the good life again.

The upper class of society has always been trying to eliminate "middle class America". How have they done it? Well first they have managed to send most of our better paying jobs overseas where they can pay two or three dollars a month, to a person who will work almost round the clocki for them and ask for nothing more. Second the cause of it is GREED!!!!!

Thank you June. For those in America complaining about the governmnet, the stats seem to be on your side.
The facts in this article indicate that the basis for improving things has been a total failure.
Very interesting:• Mostly female: About one in three severely poor people are younger than 17, and nearly two out of three are female.

• White: Nearly two of three people in severe poverty are white (10.3 million) and 6.9 million are non-Hispanic whites.

• Border disparity: Severe poverty is most pronounced near the Mexican border and in some areas of the South.

The fact that much work can be dehumanizing, lack of work can be dehumanizing, hunger is dehumanizing, lack of skills can continue the whole process all mean we need to ban together and get some turn around in the situation. The way we treat eachother is a step. Holly T
