Ok, he commits this heinous crime and the judge leaves open the possibility for parole? "Suddock said he was allowing Cotting the possibility of midlife parole because of his youth. It is possible, with time, the teenager's brain will develop more mature thinking and he will feel remorse, the judge said.
"He's really quite remorseless at this time in his life" I don't think so...

For taking a life and doing as he did, he should remain in jail for the rest of his life with no possibility of parole is what I believe. There may be others in jail who just can't wait to get their hands on a youth such as him and torture him as he did his mother. Wouldn't doubt it.

he did this horrible crime when he was 16. what compels a human to do these kinds of things to another person? murder is murder, rape is rape...(albeit corpse...). it was brutal...absolutely absolutely horrible, and the man should receive the maximum. screw the notion of possiblity of parole. he'd do it again if he could...as sick as he is. absolutely horrifying.

Only 8 years for rape of his stepmother? So if he hadn't killed her, he'd be out in 8 years??
Terrifying- why do they not care to put so many other people in danger by allowing such people to get away with short sentences for rape?

Yeah sure Cotting will, with time become more mature and atonal for his savage crimes, in effect becoming a better person...haha hhahahahahahaahah WHAT RUBBISH!
Some judicial people need to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee `cause that wacko kid went past the point of no return when he committed those savage deplorable crimes. He sure as hell isn't gonna reform, ever.
He may resort to a time honored con ploy of having gotten religion and finding jesus blahyadablah but his usefulness (such as it might have been) is done, over, kaput. As far as I'm concerned, that pile of human manure should've been "fried" faster than shrimp.

Maryanne:
I understand your concern, but, if you consider that Cotting is symbolic of a much bigger degenerative picture; one in which the Bushjunta, a rogue organization of thugs and murderers, since 2001, greenlighted use every disgusting abominal criminal action by the governmental agencies and departments, military, media, and businesses-if Cotting is the microcosm, Bushthugs are the macrocosm of CRIME INC!
