A man was mauled by a 400-pound tiger at the Bronx Zoo on Friday after he leaped from a moving monorail train and plummeted over a protective fence. The man was alone with the tiger for about 10 minutes before he was rescued by zoo officials, who used a

What a dumb ass! He got just what he deserved! And something that woke him up and out of the trance he was in to do such a STUPID THING!

"The mauling happened Friday afternoon in the Wild Asia exhibit, where a train with open sides takes visitors over the Bronx River and through a forest, where they glide along the top edge of a fence past elephants, deer and a tiger enclosure.

Passengers aren't strapped in on the ride, and the man apparently jumped out of his train car with a leap powerful enough to clear the 16-foot-high perimeter fence.

The 25-year-old man was alone with a male Siberian tiger named Bashuta for about 10 minutes before he was rescued by zoo officials, who used a fire extinguisher to chase the animal away, said zoo director Jim Breheny. He suffered bites and punctures on his arms, legs, shoulders and back and broke an arm and a leg.

"When someone is determined to do something harmful to themselves," Breheny said, "it's very hard to stop that."

Bashuta was returned to a holding area where it usually sleeps at night and will not be euthanized, zoo officials said."

What a stupid idiot! Talk about someone going the distance to call themselves "victim". Undoubtly it was for some kind attention/sympathy.

There are far easier ways than that to kill yourself. Then again, who knows what his mental state was like at the time as surely no sane person who do a thing like that.

.....sigh. Had he been killed I'd just say...thin'n of the herd...but since he lived...He or his family will probably sue the zoo..and win ...........

great that the tiger was spared... if he had wanted to kill the idiot, he could have done it with the first swipe... maybe "idiot" has a bitter taste

I'm glad the tiger won't be killed, it probably scared him to see this thing falling out of the sky! As Cheryl said, if he wanted to kill him he'd have done it with the first swipe! I hope the zoo does not get sued.

This insipid fool could have caused Bashuta to be killed, and for what a moron?Good for you Bronx Zoo for caring enough for your animals that you have a non-lethal method of getting freaks out of wild animal exhibits, without harming the poor creatures who live there.

The testing was because I have not been able to comment for a long time and so wanted to see if I could.

The man is an idiot who lives in another world. Who jumps into an enclosure with tigers or any wild animals? One respects wild animals, not jumps into the middle of them without expecting to get mauled. IT wasn't the tiger's fault-she was just doing what tigers do to people who land in the middle of their homes. I do not like the term "on display" as was used. They should not be considered exhibits, they are living beings, not museum pieces.

Idiot. The one who would have been killed is the tiger. Very typical of man is doing to all wildlife. They do stupid things and the animals pay the price.

If he truly wanted to be one with the tiger, he should have let it eat him. Another B.S.'er.

I also have a great admiration for the big cats and have numerous pictures of them on Facebook but I respect them enough to not invade their space is guys was a complete moron.Bashuta could have killed him with one bite to the throat. At least Bashuta won't die because of this guy like the guy from the zoo said the tiger did nothing wrong.

I'm just happy that nothing happened to the tiger. This happens too many times where the animal is killed. The animal did nothing wrong but it is the one who suffer the consequences.

If the zoo officials hadn't rescued him, he might have been eaten; thereby satisfying his wanting to 'be one with the tiger', and giving Darwin a good chuckle.

noted....what a complete idiot....so was he going to pet the tiger as would pet a dog???? does he think he is invincible and not be killed by this tiger??? the guy should be mentally evaluated!!!!! thank God they did not kill the tiger, which would have really pissed me off, because it would not have been the fault of the tiger at all.....that is what wild animals do to survive....uh duh!!!!!!!!!

What a complete moron!

I'm glad that they did nothing to the Tiger, because when stupid people do stupid things like this they always blame the animals for it, and the animals always pay with their live's!

I'm not certain, how cards in this man's deck are missing.
Either, he was raised with wild animals, or he requires considerable attention. Probably, therapy is needed.

Crazy man. A young man got into the tigers in a Danish zoo and got killed. Nobody know why he did it.
