Even though Canadians want it, Health Canada has no plans to bring in mandatory labelling of mercury in fish, saying it would be "complicated" and difficult to enforce. A majority of respondents to a recently released department survey said

This information should be mandatory for the health and wellness of those who purchase the product.

according to the government, the longer you are exposed to mercury, the worse it is..

almost everyone stores mercury in there head (teeth), for their whole lives

that is extended exposure....

they also are now saying, that if you get a mercury cavity removed, that the spit is too toxic to spit down the drain

- strange but true,..

.. when we were kids,..45 years ago, there wasn't much to do,..

everyone had bottles of mercury to play with, .. put coins in it, to make

them shiny, throw it on the ground, and make it into one again,.. like the Terminator,..

me, and all my friends that used to have the mercury all over us,..

.. there is nothing wrong with any of our healths.

I haven't been to a doctor in over a year.never sick..my friends too.

Fish is one of the major exports, along with timber, oil and hydro. Most of these four commodities, of course, are sold to the neighbor to the south.

We have a right to know what is in the fish we are eating imported from Canada.

public health officials urge people to eat a variety of fish that are low in mercury,

The greater the amount of mercury and the longer the exposure, the more

serious the human health effects are likely to be. Reducing or limiting

dietary intake of mercury is an effective way to reduce potential exposure

and adverse health effects.

- sounds simple enough,..

.. unless, of course, you want to store mercury in your head(teeth), your

whole life, that's okay.(the longer the exposure, the more

serious the human health effects )

..and when you get a mercury cavity removed, the spit you spit into the

basin, is now deemed too toxic, to let go down the drain ?

.. and since mercury is so toxic, to people, and Our Earth,

we will now fill all lightbulbs, and vaccines(causes Autism) with mercury,

....... cause it's cheaper ?

- sounds very confusing,.. no?

- so you can't spit mercury spit down the drain, because its so toxic,

.. but you can store it in your head, for your whole life,

.. and you can eat fish with a bit of mercury in them,

- very, very, confusing to most people..

Scott, that is true - the CFL does contain mercury! About ten years ago, engineers developed the white LED. The LED has been around since 1970 - the old red display on the first calculators.

The problem was mixing the colored LSDs just right to produce white light. As recently as ten years ago, a white LED cost about thirty dollars. Now they are cheap.

So the future is LEDs.

According to Oceana, the biggest source of merury in fish isn't even the coal plants, it's the chlorine plants. The chlorine plants are built on the coast and I guess are allowed to just put the toxic metal right in the ocean.

Oceana wrote me a while ago asking me to contact my grocers sbout mercury. One chain wrote back they would do something about it, the other chain never wrote back. The first chain began pamphlets about fish, including mercury and other chemicals, as well as the benefits of fish.

But as Karin has pointed out, dulse has the same omega-3 essential fatty acids as fish, and chai sprouts have 18 times as much as salmon.
