There is a plethora of data supporting the idea that those who practice what researchers call "mindfulness meditation" have an easier time dealing with chronic pain.

noted. Interesting that the story was sponsered by Pfiser(big pharma), but then it was clearly stated as complimentary to allopathic medicine. After 20 years of chronic lower back problems, daily consumption of narcotics and muscle relaxers, I said ENOUGH! I have not taken ANY pharmaceutical for over a year and when I have a bad day of pain, I turn it into a good day of meditation. So, in answer to the articles question, Yes! Yes! Yes!

Congrats, Mark! Big Pharma will never encourage complete naturopathic treatment- that would mean "bye-bye" to them! ...in addition, most insurance agencies for health are only just beginning to OK chiropractic, acupuncture treatments for pain and other ailments...But, I think that these companies and agencies are seeing a swing in the general public's view about alternative therapies! Ppl are becoming frustrated with the promise of health behind the consumption of a pill to make everything better (which usually does not in the case of pain- merely masks and causes other problems: constipation, dependency, allergies)...and they are looking elsewhere...
