some might be, unfortunately those with "power" to set standards, but I wouldn't say all....I work with some very good honest nutritionists who push organics all the time....

I have never heard of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) before, so I guess I don't base my food purchase decisions on their determinations, but it is good to know and totally believable, that corporate American is in their side pocket!

More than likely...simply based on the fact that it is human nature to be lured by incentives. Things such as job security, promotions, bonuses, and not making waves are enough to cause many people to not speak out and buck the system or trend. Truly ethical people often end up without a job.
