May I add that the California Condor and the Channel Island Fox were saved LARGELY due to efforts by staff and friends of the Los Angeles Zoo. People who jerk their knees and demand that zoos be closed need to remember these statistics.

I am hopeful that these successes will continue. And with genetics research, maybe we can get back the dodo, the Tasmanian tiger, the woolly mammoth and there is the possibility of bring back the source of the birds.

Hartson, it's an interesting thought but.....these animals no longer have a place to live. Zoos try to save animals which actually have a chance to make it on their own. They'd be wonderful to see, no doubt about it but...what would we do with a herd of woolly mammoths?
