"They're not making decisions about whether the pesticide can be put on the market based on impacts to bees, no matter how much evidence of harm there is," Colangelo says. "The EPA will just approve it anyway and put a warning label on the product."

Apparently DDT is everyone's enemy Robert. I just hate that DDT is being sprayed where bees try to posper. Thnx Judy.

This article is NOT about DDT. DDT was banned in the US in 1972. It is still uysed a very few places (Africa?) for mosquito control, to prevent malaria. None of the insecticides listed inthe article are related chemically to DDT.

With that said, yes, this is a bad thing. We breathe this air, birds breathe this air, and bees breathe this air. Colony collapse is of global concern as this is a major contributor to the food supply.

It's not DDT. It's Imidacloprid and clothianidin made by Bayer Cropscience Inc.

"Imidacloprid and clothianidin are chloronicotinoids, a synthetic compound that combines nicotine, a powerful toxin, with chlorine to attack an insect's nervous system. The chemical is applied to the seed of a plant, added to soil, or sprayed on a crop and spreads to every corner of the plant's tissue, killing the pests that feed on it."

Sounds nice, huh? Makes paying a little extra for organic worth it.

I am not surprised at all. All pesticide use needs to be banned. How many small critters are being affected? I just abhor pesticides! They should truly be illegal as they pesticides bring a slow death to our world, one drop at a time.

Longterm, we are killing ourselves as well as the bees, but are too stubborn to do anything about it. Money seems to be more important than life itself. Now just how skewed is that thinking?!
