I could't possibly think that there is such a problem in Canada. What can such a poll say about Russia then?

another sad example of how our human race is often ruled by deception

guess that's why so many accept 'lying' as an acceptable behavior

This is VERY sad!
It seems that Harper has done worse to Canadian scientists than Bubba did in the U.S.A.
Be aware that this is one way fascism sneaks into a culture.
Please get Harper's behind out of office at the next election, if he can't be impeached, or whatever that would be called, in Canada.

Not just in Canada and Russia. It's getting to be that way in America, too. Sad day when there's no Freedom of Speech anywhere.

Harper is a control freak, and a climate change denier. He has muzzled scientists, particularly scientists working in climate change and global warming. Let's face it, he has been directly lobbying Mr Obama to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, while some of his harlots have been lobbying other key US players. His constituency is in Alberta, tar sands country so he has a vested interest.

@ Mitchell --- We do not have impeachment. The only way to get rid of this charlatan is to defeat him at the ballot box and send the harlots into oblivion. Next date 2015, unfortunately. Not soon enough.

Seems democracies are no better than dictatorship and communist states!

Canada, what is wrong with you? And I thought scientists had problems in this country!

There is nothing wrong with Canada, it is the Harper government that is practicing paranoia, Harper is a control freak all the way from imposing control over the government benches, to the federal cabinet and he brooks no dissent to the way that he wants things done.

I am certainly looking forward to the next election to see his sorry party trounced in the election. Back in the 90's his party held well over 100 Parliamentary seats and ended up electing a mere two Members of Parliament. Those were the days and I hope to see history repeat itself. Certainly, I have similar hopes for the extinction of the tea baggers. Con-servativism often seems to be intolerant of the sciences.
