Impoverished urban communities have evolved into miniature police states.

Shared to spread awareness.

The terrifying worry with all this is, one no longer needs to watch various science-fiction movies anymore, as reality as caught up, namely, Robocop, and movies of the same ilk.

Chris Hedges is a very wise man. If he's behind it, i'll support it

Thanks Judy--good explanation of the collateral damage here at home from the neocon/neoliberal policies of the Bushes and Clintons that Bernie hoped to start undoing via things like stopping the TPP.

Thanks, Judy. Hedges is always so depressingly wise and completely correct, I fear I having been avoiding him. This is great article. I will forward on social media.

Well, anyone listening to Chris Hedges, or Noam Chomsky, Abby Martin/Empire Files or Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald, would have given Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump the widest berth in history.

Neither are to be trusted, but it seems America has that stark choice, following our rigged unfair democratic primary elections. Good luck.

An Important Read - Highly suggested. I've also left link on another thread that this would pertain to.

Within the article:

Neoliberalism, like all utopian ideologies, requires the banishment of empathy.

The inability to feel empathy is the portal to an evil often carried out in the name of progress. A world without empathy rejects as an absurdity the call to love your neighbor as yourself.

It elevates the cult of the self. It divides the world into winners and losers.

It celebrates power and wealth.

Those who are discarded by the corporate state, especially poor people of color, are viewed as life unworthy of life.

They are denied the dignity of work and financial autonomy.

They are denied an education and proper medical care, meaning many die from preventable illnesses.

They are criminalized. They are trapped from birth to death in squalid police states. And they are blamed for their own misery.

Disenfranchised white workers, also the victims of deindustrialization and neoliberalism, flock to Donald Trump rallies stunted by this lack of empathy.

(My Words - I see others with their empathy in tact went to Bernie Sanders)

The hatred of the other offers them a sense of psychological protection. For, if they saw themselves in those they demonized, if they could express empathy, they would have to accept that what is being done to poor people of color can, and perhaps will, be done to them.

This truth is too hard to accept. It is easier to blame the victims.

(My words and we see this all the time victim blaming)

Lots of truth just in this small area of the article I pulled out.

Thanks for posting this excellent article, Judy.
Chris Hedges is absolutely right---the Corporate state must be dismantled, and neo-liberalism must go the way of the dodo bird.

"Police can stop citizens at will, question and arrest them without probable cause, kick down doors in the middle of the night on the basis of warrants for nonviolent offenses, carry out wholesale surveillance, confiscate property and money and hold people—some of them innocent—in county jails for years before forcing them to accept plea agreements that send them to prison for decades. They can also, largely with impunity, murder them......Those who live in these police states, or internal colonies, especially young men of color, endure constant fear and often terror."

Yes, and remember Elián González in 2000...they snatched the boy from his uncle's hands and left the house...

I was about to ask why the green stars were not working. The under maintenance for three days does seem a little odd for an explanation. I gave green stars yesterday.

It's a useful observation, given a lot of so-called progress has turned into Regression.
