Florida's manatee population appears to be higher than usual this year. A recent survey showed almost 5,000 manatees in the state. Biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say that is comparatively higher than in past years.

Great news. The first time I saw a Manatee in person, I was mesmerized, just chomping away on a head of lettuce

Yeah!!!! I love manatees. They are gentle giants that are special... slow-moving sea creatures who do not fare well around speed boats and an uncaring recreational population.
